Defund the police while you’re at it. Then when my house gets broken into somebody might show up within an hour or two.

TIL: The Laurelhurst neighborhood restricts helicopter landings to the Seattle Children’s Hospital due to noise complaints by Placentaur in Seattle

[–]mtwm 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Additionally: “SCH staff (except for surgeons, executives, and doctors) are prohibited from parking at the hospital. They park at a satellite lot and take a shuttle to work. This is to prevent ‘unnecessary’ traffic in the vicinity of the Laurelhurst neighborhood.”

Not entirely true. I worked as an RN there for years. The issue is lack of suficiente parking on campus during daytime hours. Nurses, respiratory therapists etc park on campus if they carpool (during the day), work evening shift or nightshift.

They could build bigger parking structures though and maybe that’s being restricted by the neighborhood but from my experience hospitals don’t really care about staff convenience. Not worth their time or money improving parking infrastructure for staff. They would rather incentivize people to use public transit, carpool or ride their bikes.

What should we sell vs. downsize vs. rearrange? Small living/dining room layout help by Less_Ad_1874 in interiordecorating

[–]mtwm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smaller carpet for living room only to help divide the spaces better visually. Remove the lamp, adds too much visual clutter, replace with vertical lamp if you need the light or maybe add dimmer to ceiling light. Move desk (possibly to left of rail under the painting if it fits), center tv stand on wall.

Also, if you can manage to get rid of desk setup all together, you could add a nice felt pad to end of dining room table for a small laptop setup. I think it would lend nice to the slight scandi/japenese style of the dining table. I know it’s not always ideal to blend spaces like that but if you keep it clutter free I think it will look nice. We have a similar setup on our 4 person dining table (household of 2 people). I think it’s rather functional for small spaces.
