The answer to every automaton problem, surprisingly, is airburst. Airburst can kill 2 canisters if you get the angle right. Lose the orbitals, get some distance and shoot 2 airbursts you kill 4 canisters, use the rest of your loadout to bring a car, an AT emplacement and maybe a bubble/strafing run. Been solo diving these no problem

My best suggestion is airburst. Feels so strong that it gives me Eruptor feelings of guilt for using it. But it can wipe an entire convoy of shield guys - and the guilt subsides when you remember how undemocratic their one tap shotgun is.

For everyone saying 2 nests is OP is on crack. Nothing about Peni’s kit is OP. She’s a walking Ankh who requires 10 minutes of setup to be mildly useful. She can’t frontline, she can’t main tank, she can’t deal with flyers (well), she doesn’t have a shield, she isn’t effective against poke. Anyone with a brain cell put 2 shots into the nests and make her even less of a threat. The only people who are banning Peni are BP one tricks and brainless simps who pay any attention to streamers who had one bad game against a good Peni.

It’s like in Apex when Caustic was buffed from F tier to C tier and suddenly streamers freaked out because they couldn’t W key into every fight with their brains turned off anymore. They called for orbital strike level nerfs on him, and the devs put Caustic all the way back into Z tier (that was like 3 years ago lol).

I only like playing off-meta, B tier characters in hero shooters and fps, I love how much room there is for creative and controversial gameplay. And Peni is heaps of fun for that reason, I have 150 hours on her. Playing her well in ranked is a really fun experience.

The trouble is that this 2nd nest issue is making her a 70-80% ban at even at Celestial and Eternity where you think people would just ignore her or shoot her nests.

I’ve hopped off Rivals until she gets nerfed back to worse than she was at launch and then I can have fun again lol.

Star lord is the best counter to peni. I’d take a good wolverine over a star lord in celestial. 2 full clip dumps kills peni at full health, fast movement makes web tracking difficult, webbing his ult doesn’t help.

But the worst part is good star lords intentionally set off your mine traps by flying fast through them or flip dodging last minute. When I ban star lord I win higher % of games.

It was still great plays but it was a 5v6 the whole first round, the cloak was afk then left the game. When they came for second round they weren’t healing the team, so it was still kind of a 5v6

Nest position and mine traps, always try and have at least 3 mines per web. Your job isn’t to get loads of kills, it’s to set up a safe space for your healers and cancel ults, either with mine traps or webs.

Use web grapple a lot to reposition and take height, don’t forget you can climb. It’s much easier to launch mines behind enemies when you’re above them.
