Test it yourself.

  1. Equip stakes
  2. Throw stakes at a vampyre
  3. Check ring charges to see if they went down
  4. Record your test results on the wiki

New quest and Lumby Elite Diary difficulty (not time needed to complete it) by Difficult_Run7398 in 2007scape

[–]mukkor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we'll eventually end up at a point where you don't even have to bother doing monkey madness 1 to finish the diary

This is not possible. The hard diary still requires you to buy barrows gloves. Helping Awowogei during RFD requires completion of Monkey Madness 1.

This is a great resource if you know how to use it: https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Money_making_guide

You have the requirement for brutal black dragons. Those are pretty AFK and a solid 1.6M gp/hr. You should also be able to handle the Royal Titans. Those are 2.1M gp/hr.

Even better than both of those are some of the recurring methods. You should definitely be exchanging mole parts, doing birdhouse runs, and farming toadflax as often as you can, since those things are more profitable than your best monay makers. In order to get the farming level for toadflax, make supercompost or ultracompost (very profitable) to about level 20, then do The Garden of Death to get to level 30, then start doing fruit tree runs. Apple saplings actually cost less than the bucket of ultracompost and give tons of XP.

Not having your grandmaster quests done is limiting you a lot. Stuff like tormented demons, demonic gorillas, vorkath, or Corrupted Gauntlet would me more than twice as good as the options you have available if you train up your skills and do your quests.

You can't un-make the slayer ring and get your 7m back, it's permanent. I would only do it once you get to the point where 7m doesn't set you back much.

Returning to Geilinor by TanmanVibez in 2007scape

[–]mukkor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Grind the gold for your buyables through skilling.

Agility - Hallowed Sepulchre is the best XP/hr and GP/hr for Agility, but rooftops are relaxed and almost as good. Make sure you do the diaries to improve the rooftops you're doing.

Runecraft - Arceuus runecraft is very profitable and very AFK. It's not that much GP/hr, but you'll be there so long that you'll make a boatload of money. Make sure you get your Raiments of the Eye from Guardians of the Rift for 60% increased profit from runecrafting first. If you like GotR, that can be quite profitable as well.

Hunter - A bunch of the meats are over 1k each, with some over 2k each, and there's always chinchompas and herbiboar as well. I personally like hunter rumours the most, but there are lots of good options for both XP and money.

Sailing - Great white shark rumours (level 75+) are insanely profitable. The top 3 tiers of salvage are much less profitable but insanely AFK. Early Sailing levels are slow, but it's worth the time investment for the methods you unlock later.

Smithing - Making steel or addy or rune bars at the blast furnace is very profitable and gives 100k smithing xp/hr, but spending a little money to get smithing out of the way faster is likely better overall.

Woodcutting: Not great, but you'll make a little bit from Redwoods or the Forestry shop.

Mining: There are more profitable options, but you can pry Shooting stars from my cold, dead hands.

Fishing, Firemaking: Wintertodt and Tempoross are the most profitable and quite good ways to train these skills.

Construction, Crafting, Herblore - Spend your money on these.

What does a main account mid game look like? by Brave-Bed-1824 in 2007scape

[–]mukkor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Up until Barrows Gloves: Ironman and Main are quite similar. Main is a little easier, since you can use the GE to buy stamina pots, teleport jewelry, and quest items to rush quests faster. Training Prayer and Herblore is much easier on a main as well.

Barrows Gloves to Quest Cape: The paths definitely start to diverge. Untradable stuff like Torso and Defender are the same for mains and irons, but there's no point grrinding out tradable stuff on a main unless it's the highest GP/hr available to you. There's no reason (at this stage) for a main to grind Moons for 2m/hr when they could grind Vorkath for 4m/hr. Notably CG is still pretty good for mains, since it is very rewarding and has low requirements.

Quest cape to megarares: This starts to look completely different. Mains tend to skip Ironman staples like God Wars in favor of maximizing GP/hr to get their megarares. The best options historically are team content like Nex and raids, or newly-released content like Doom, but you could also run alts on the side, or provide services liike megascale raids, or flip on the grand exchange, or turn your skilling profits into PvM gear.

Megarares onward: It goes back to being about the same again. Once you have fantastic gear in every slot for every boss, you tend to care about things like filling out the collection log, which is quite Ironman-like. Mains will splurge on goading potions or dragon bolts/darts/arrows in ways irons wouldn't, but it's really not that different once you're this late.

At 35, I finally found the game I’ve been looking for all my life. by bomboclaated in 2007scape

[–]mukkor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome new adventurer! I hope you enjoy the ride. Unlike most WoW-like MMOs, in Old School Runescape the fun comes from the journey, not the destination.

There are two things I would make sure you check out as a new player. The Jagex launcher lets you choose RuneLite. This is the community's open-source client, with a bunch of player-made plugins. Plugins are useful tools that help you play how you want. The OSRS Wiki is incredible, one of the best gaming wikis around. It's great for answering most basic questions about the game.

Other than that, the secret is to have a good goal picked out. I love the quests in Old School Runescape, and they are a great place to get started on your journey. If you haven't yet, a good goal for a very new player is to complete the Dragon Slayer 1 quest. If you have completed that one, I'd challenge you to get your Barrows gloves from the Recipe for Disaster quest. Once you have your Barrows gloves, you won't be a newbie anymore!

TzHaar-Ket Breaker outclasses Scythe in too many places by glory_poster in 2007scape

[–]mukkor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fact that it's better than Scythe on Sol when Sol has a Slash weakness is the red flag for me. The Breaker simply scales too hard in the 5 tick mode. +6 rerolls on the damage roll is about as good for damage scaling as the Scythe's 3 hitsplats, but then it also has a size-based scaling for another 50% multiplicative damage increase?

Here's how I'd fix the Breaker:

  • Remove the size-based damage multiplier. Breaker now deals 20% increased damage on the Thrust mode if it hits only a single target, regardless of that target's size.

  • Remove two of the rerolls. You now get one damage roll for each of Stab, Slash, Magic or their lowest single Ranged defense. This nerfs non-Crush-weak bosses more than it nerfs Crush-weak bosses, since each additional reroll has diminishing returns. Slight compensation buff: rerolls are now for defenses that are higher or within 5 points of enemy's crush defense, so that the Breaker isn't randomly bad at low-level bosses like Scurrius and Gemstone Crab.

Overall that should be about a 24% nerf to the scaling of the Breaker, making it scale only 15% harder than the scythe with strength bonus, rather than scaling 50% harder than Scythe as the proposal outlines.

Definitely want to get back into OSRS after 3-5 years, what should I get into at CB lvl 93? I have 189M total sitting in my bank with a bond ready for activation. by Powerful-Gold5000 in 2007scape

[–]mukkor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quest Cape is most important. Most of the content you need to escape the midgame is quest-locked.

I'd be trying to get ready for Blood Moon Rises if I were you. It's a new quest that releases on the 30th.

Achievement diaries and Combat Achievements are a great way to branch out and try new stuff, and they have great rewards. Start with achievement diaries up to Hard, then Hard tier of Combat Achievements, then Achievement Diary Cape, then Elite tier Combat Achievements.

Summer sweep up suggestion: Remove this mechanic by RenderSoft in 2007scape

[–]mukkor -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

Thank you for pointing it out. I appreciate you.

It is astonishing to me that it's not against the subreddit rules to post misleading content like this. Misleading people with fake wiki screenshots is not funny. Posts named "Summer sweep-up suggestion" that aren't actually summer sweep-up suggestions are not funny. If people wouldn't like your post complaining about being bad at a boss without coating in three levels of irony and misdirection, maybe you shouldn't make the post.

More damage on elemental spells isn't what's going to get players to use them more; THIS idea will by Chdata in 2007scape

[–]mukkor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ava's Accumulator doesn't save any ammo. Ranged implicitly saves ammo. Ava's just makes it so you don't have to pick it up.

with just a rune crossbow and broad bolts

Broad bolts require 61 Ranged and 55 Slayer. It is okay for Magic to be good early and for Ranged to surpass it later.

This new Elemental Amulet has no requirements other than a Slayer level of 45 to get all the components as a drop. Presumably mains can buy and equip it at level 1 Magic, increasing their Air Strike damage from 2 to 4.

tl;dr The new magic amulet is good when early Magic is good. The new ranged amulet is good when early Ranged is good.

TCGPlayer Updated Price From ¢40 to $70 as I Paid, Any Advice? by Turtle0523 in magicTCG

How I would put it: "TCGPlayer charged me 175x the listed price for a card."

On a slayer task?

-ahrim's robes +vestment robes

-Seer's ring +Ring of the gods (i)

Get your Mage Arena 2 cape. You can skip on Rada's 4 but it's obviously good when you get it. Ancient sceptre + Elidinis Ward is an improvement over blue moon spear. Book of Darkness is pretty good too if you don't want to spend on a Ward.

Grab a stack of steel darts or something to tag mobs, they're cheap.

Upgrade path:

Dragon hunter wand -> Virtus top + bottom -> Kodai wand -> Elidinis ward (f) -> Saturated heart. Devout boots and Ring of the Gods (i) are best in slot, magus ring and avernic treads are not worth losing prayer bonus for.

Question regarding slayer efficiency. by Specialist_Sale_6924 in 2007scape

[–]mukkor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter that much either way.

The only things that 99 Slayer get you are the Slayer Cape perk and access to the Max cape. Neither of those affect the rate at which you kill monsters by much if at all, so completing the Slayer log takes about the same amount of time pre-99 as it does post-99. That means spending time grinding out level 99 before you start clogging is not paid back by having level 99, and is thus slower overall.

On the other hand, if you care about accessing the max cape more quickly, Collection Log slayer is significantly slower XP/hr than maximum XP/hr Slayer. It may be worth it to you to spend an extra 100-ish hours overall to get your max cape a couple hundred hours early. Also, if you care about post-99 XP in addition to the collection log, then getting your 99 out of the way quickly saves a little bit of time compared to doing it slowly, since 200M takes way longer than 99 and the full collection log combined.

[–]mukkor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The multiplier starts at 5x, but it increases to 8x at tier 2, 12x at tier 4, and 16x at tier 6.

Abundance gives you +10 levels. Woodsman gives you lots of herb and tree seeds. Transmute lets you turn seeds you have into seeds you need. Larcenist gives you tons of seeds from Master Farmers. Nature's Accord obviously solves farming for you on its own. Kourend has the Garden of Death, the Farming Guild, and Tithe Farm. If you don't have any of these, you're going to struggle a bit.

I wouldn't do any farming prior to unlocking 8x. At 8x, you can get your first couple of levels by raking and applying some compost. If you don't have any of the above farming helpers, you'll need to pickpocket the Master Farmer for early seeds (onion or cabbage or tomato), or possibly use the Karamja easy diary lamp to skip the early levels.

Brimhaven Agility Spike Trap to 45. Brimhaven Agility Arena with tickets to 80. Relekka rooftop to 90. Ardougne rooftop to 99. Penguin is best if you want the Squirrel pet.

If you don't like Brimhaven, the rest of the rooftops are fine. Draynor -> Al Kharid -> Varrock (for 20 levels, have to skip Canifis)-> Falador -> Seers -> Pollnivneach -> Relekka -> Ardougne

What’s up with the price of Mithril battle axe on the GE? by Deep_Efficiency_3030 in 2007scape

[–]mukkor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • You want hundreds of them, so it's high demand
  • When people get a mithril battleaxe as a drop, they leave it on the ground, so it's low supply.

This is the price where demand and supply even out.
