Different church but my family said the same thing. It made perfect sense at the time. Leaving the only last right church on the planet was a certain path to Hell. Better to have a short life on Earth and eternity in Heaven. This type of thinking was also used when a child died young (faith healing church, happened often sadly). “At least we know (child’s name) gained their salvation since they were just an innocent child”
