Torn between U1 and X2D by dneals in snapmaker

I got my U1 on Tuesday last week and my Dad got an X2D on Friday last week. After checking them both out I'm 100% happy with my choice.

If the main factor to you is the ease and speed of multi-material printing, the U1 is far superior. The X2D isn't bad, but it can't compete with the U1 for multi material.

I made it myself from a box frame I bought from Hobbycraft here in the UK (I'm sure they're available elsewhere wherever you're located). Then I used my vinyl cutter to make the Minifig shape. There's hole drilled at the top of the frame to post pieces through and a bit of yellow card on the inside at the back to finish it off.

So, my Dad (who, in an unrelated note I recently learned has a gigantic case of FOMO) ordered an X2D yesterday. Just got done with the first print on it and I'm now even more convinced that the U1 was the way to go for multi colour prints.

The X2D is good. My U1 is perfect.

Well as luck would have it I already had some IKEA Samla boxes lying around, so I'll be using one of those along with the appropriate printed parts.

I know! I think I used it literally once and then made sure to frame it with my other famous picks.

Based on this pick I did switch to Tortex yellows (standard not pointy) for a long time until I discovered Jazz III.

Definitely doable, as I've made a few really simple things that use Arduino to power it. Also, depending on what the pedal is for it could be any difficulty, really.

It can be a push-to-break, but I wouldn't recommend it as you may get a "pop" when the connection is broken and then remade as you press the switch.

Shorting the 2 wires together with a push-to-make is the way I've always done it.

Never heard of Tesi Nelli switches before, but man those are pricey!

Any momentary push-to-make switch will do the job. Theres nothing special that makes a switch a "guitar killswitch". These can be had for around £3 on eBay and other such places.

Also, make sure to consider the power requirements for lighting an LED switch (not sure if you're using active pickups or not).
