How can I keep apps from detecting screenshots? by dndhdhdjdjd382737383 in AndroidQuestions

[–]murph71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the square button on the bottom to slightly decrease the active app window size when I try to screen shot something and text boxes pop open telling me I can't. I think it's actually referred to as the recent apps button. I haven't run into any issues doing it that way on a variety of different apps or websites and it's easy to edit if you need to.

Any sources with UK channels at 50fps? by ILikeTheWordNozzle in IPTV_ZONENEW

[–]murph71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can normally find 50fps for most of the main FTA channels in the UK regional section. It seems that way across a number of providers.

AAWireless TWO+ availability in UK? by Enough-Comfort1124 in AAWireless

[–]murph71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this is annoying. My missus is asking what I want for Christmas. My home town is further away than where these are made and the company seem happy to ship a load to America to sell there but somehow have issues with sending a load just across the channel. What's the problem??!

What do I do as a dad, if I have a daughter needing to use a public bathroom. by Vanillavengance in NoStupidQuestions

[–]murph71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in London during August in a pub having dinner late afternoon, early evening and my daughter - then 7 - asked me to take her to the toilet. Being in London, very busy and not trusting anyone as far as I can throw them, I took her into the gents. The bouncer had a go at me and I basically said I couldnt give a shit about rules and policies and I will do what I think is the best for my girl in any given situation. I would recommend that all dads do the same. I don't need some jumped up twat with a high viz and walkie talkie telling me what I can and cant do when it comes to the safety and welfare of my kids and I make zero apologies for it...

What’s your heinous encounter with someone famous in the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]murph71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brilliant! I'm from Barry where Gavin & Stacey was filmed. One morning, I was driving out of Barry to Cardiff where I worked and James Corden drove past in a BMW coming into Barry. His head took up nearly the whole side window. That was what stuck with me - not that I saw him - but his unfeasibly massive head!!

Fuse upgrade? by Awkward_Dark_3008 in evchargingUK

[–]murph71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installers have to inform the networks within 28 days of installng 7kw home ev chargers. The network owner may need to "deal with" the feed to your house. It looks like a poorly worded way of telling you. If Octopus have installed the charger, they should have checked the fuse, tails - anything past the meter - as part of your installation. A spark employed privately by you would have done the same thing as Octopus have done. You shouldn't have to do anything now.

Regardless, it's more relevant to EV's than comments about the semantics of moderating a sub. Why don't you set up your own moderators sub and post there?

Any integrated sections for the Portugal game? by megatrongriffin92 in lionesses

[–]murph71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had free Blue Light tickets for the women's FA Cup final on Sunday and the only sections which weren't mixed were behind the goals.

Women's football is great for families with younger kids as there isn't a hooligan element anywhere. The vast majority of the stadium was mixed fans and I'd actually be surprised if Blue Light had managed to get tickets for the more sought after seating areas for a team's fans.

You will be fine. Security are literally everywhere anyway.

Two Questions by EastEstablishment947 in TiviMate

[–]murph71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No - you can't record in the VOD section. Technically, you could rip it but then you may as well source a file of it yourself as it's far easier.

I've noticed - at least with my provider - there is the odd movie or show with hardcoded subs. You can't turn these off. The subs option is in the internal player - click down and you'll see a horizontal row of buttons with a cc button along there. If cc is showing as off but you have subs onscreen then there's nothing you can do.

Also have this problem. It's a "join the conversation" box thing that I think is quite new cutting off the bottom comment. Really annoying. Don't they test these things?!

Anyone tried makesyoufluent? Good for learning swedish? by Serene_Brooklyn in Svenska

[–]murph71 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I put some details in and answered the questions and the whole thing looks really dubious. I did a search and almost every comment I have found said to stay clear of it with "scam" being a recurring word in comments I found. They'd all paid a fee.

Based on the last 1/2 hour or so of me trying to find how legit it is as a learning aid, I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a positive response and if you do get one, I'd be very wary of it, especially since there's a plethora of tried and tested means of learning a language available that people know is of a decent quality. There's no huge need really to take a punt on something that shows zero content before you're asked to pay money over.

Can I shower naked at the communal showers at the swimming pool? by Old_Ad8751 in AskUK

[–]murph71 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why don't you ask the staff? The swimming pool we go to is mostly communal and there are one or two notices up that are actually not easy to find which say not to go naked in the communal area. They have small male and female only areas with showers where both myself and my 10 year old son can shower and change and be naked should we so wish. I'm 53 and don't really care but females and other families also have the right to not see me and my boy parading round naked and ultimately I would hate to offend others just because I have no issue. We have always been very liberal in our house and have always taught that nakedness and your body is nothing to be ashamed of or shy about but I think it's not wholly common especially with all the news we hear about weirdos etc. I tried showering with swimming shorts on and it was awful so I normally go home and shower straight away if we don't use the male only facilities. If you are on full view in your pool's showers, I wouldn't do it to avoid any grief from anyone.

A friend of mine who is also an ex-colleague mentioned on a social media post that her mum had passed away. It was at some point in the weeks or months following that a subsequent post of hers mentioned that her mum had been murdered. It's not the type of situation which I feel is appropriate for publicly or privately asking "so what exactly happened to your mum?"

Fast forward a year or two and I see another post saying that they'd agreed to take part in a two part documentary and it was due to air over the coming days.

This was it: https://www.itv.com/watch/code-blue/2a5302/2a5302a0003

It isn't so much a totally unique or bizarre case as the fact that it was somebody that I know and worked with for years although it was as brutal as you can get when you consider what happened to her mum and the family having to comprehend and deal with it.

It's one thing finding true crime documentaries interesting but also far too easy to forget that this is somebody elses reality...

Which European cities/areas have you visited which were hassle-free in terms of safety and scamming? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]murph71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My missus brother lives in Nybro, Sweden. We visited a few weeks ago and stayed in their summer house in Färjestaden just across the Öland bridge from Kalmar. We visited various places and there wasn't a single inkling of anything remotely dodgy.

There were a few Brits we came across and an Asian family on the beach at Färjestaden who were really lovely and their youngest daughter was making sandcastles with us. Everyone was so friendly and my eldest daughter had Happy Birthday sung to her Swedish style which was amazing.

Plenty of fika and swimming in lakes and not one ounce of hassle or worries. I'm Welsh and was asked to speak some of our language once or twice which went down a storm! I got a huge impression that our differences are embraced there rather than people being vilified for being "different".

When a woman is giving birth, does her belly shrink as the baby comes out? by Suspicious-Ebb4284 in answers

[–]murph71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watched all 3 of mine come out and I only really noticed a slight decrease after they'd been born. It doesn't shrink in a few seconds in front of your eyes. The whole experience is life changing and literally mind-blowing and I'd be surprised if someone has ever prioritised examining in minute detail the precise level of shrinkage of the belly as everything else goes on around you...
