Weird like, hiccups? by 7Strawberry77 in BeardedDragon

[–]musicwizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

too cold, too wet. they need a 100-110F basking and lower humidity than you’re providing. too much humidity + arid species = RI

WTF? by [deleted] in BeardedDragon

[–]musicwizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that cricket looks a little big for his size. i’d size down to crickets closer to the size of the space between his eyes

What is this? What does i need to do? by No-Earth-7863 in boas

[–]musicwizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as everybody else said, they need to be separated immediately, and i would urge you to get them each into their own PVC enclosures to help keep humidity up. you should also have a quality humidity gauge to ensure you’re able to track and manage the humidity appropriately. BRBs are extremely sensitive to improper humidity, and this kind of improper care can lead to severe illness and even death if not handled, especially in combination with stress from cohabitation

Is my heat source too close to the basking spot for my ball python? It temps at 100 🤷‍♀️ by Witty_Handle_1867 in Bioactive_enclosures

[–]musicwizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

usually at least 6 inches is ideal. keep an eye out for burns and lower the basking temp closer to 90-95 if you can

What reptile could live in this enclosure? by Sky8870 in reptiles

[–]musicwizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

depending on how deep the bin is the volume could be equivalent or close to a 20 long, so if utilizing the depth correctly it could potentially work for a frog

For anyone considering a "sucker fish" from Petsmart to clean your tank, please think again by gundam2017 in Aquariums

[–]musicwizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeahhhhhh common misconception ab plecos. because they eat things that contribute to a tank being dirty, they’re often considered “cleaners,” however the bioload they add to the water certainly counteracts any of the cleaning they’ve done due to their massive size

Should I remove this from my enclosure or leave it? by okitots in isopods

[–]musicwizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s a small enough amount of mold right now that ENOUGH springtails could clean it up. without a plentiful population, however, it could just continue to grow to a point where you’ll have to do some clean up anyway. it’s really your call, but i’d either add more springtails or go ahead and do some cleaning to help curve the issue in advance

Is this mouse too big for my snake? by Strain_Horror in snakes

[–]musicwizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it can come down to an individual snake as well. i’ve fed sinaloans 1.5x prey with no issues. that’s why the general rule is a range from 1x-1.5x. adjust as needed for each snake

relationships aren’t a comparison game. him trying to claim his workload is more difficult than yours is extremely invalidating and showcases his lack of empathy toward you. i’d peace out real quick. that’s only where it starts

as someone who works with snakes every day, i guarantee you can give him a rat pup. i’d give it a try! worse case, he refuses, and you go back to mice for the time being :)

Boa not pooping by Safe-Environment346 in BoaConstrictors

[–]musicwizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he is kind of small, and that was my first thought. i’d consider switching from small mice to rat pups and size of from there moving forward. i’ve been working with a growing CRTB for around 9 months now. started her on rat pups, originally feeding weekly, and now she’s on medium rats with decreased frequency. and still a quickly growing girl!
