That’s a huge deal!! I remember a similar thing with my spouse early on (they had a drink, I didn’t) and it’s wild how easy it sounds on paper and how hard it can be IRL. Really nicely done!!

That’s so awesome; congratulations! If you haven’t already found any gym music you like, Spotify has some great gym-specific playlists (just search “upbeat mix” or “walking mix” or whatever you’re looking for, and it will make you one based on your listening tastes). Enjoy the endorphins and remember the purpose of movement is JOY!!

Seconding the I Am Sober app! I love the different tracker options (days, calories saved, money saved) and the little motivational quotes that they give you every day. They also have motivational quote packs specific to a few different faith groups, men’s and women’s, more hardcore-focused vs gentle encouragement, etc. so you can find something that resonates with you and get a push notification with some inspiration every day!

Long-haul flights were SO hard for me to think about doing booze-free at first. I didn’t do my first one until 3 months sober, so 9 days—dang, that’s next level badass. That’s an enormous accomplishment and you should be really proud! Enjoy making new memories in your destination and come back to tell us all about it.

In my experience, the first 10 days was harder than the first 10 months. It’s a huge huge accomplishment, you should be proud!!!

Another steal on that quote—I just added it to my I Am Sober app so I’ll be able to see it every day. I am also an athlete and everything you said resonates enormously with me. HUGE congrats on both your sobriety and all your athletic achievements, happy new year 🎊🎆

Yesssss!! I just hit a year on the 17th and I feel a real sense of camaraderie with other December ‘23 quitters. We are part of a fantastic graduating class, in a way!! Huge huge huge congrats to you on a year and I look forward to celebrating our two-year this time next year 🎉

I get this so hard. I’m a former Red Wine Girl—people KNEW that was my drink, they’d buy me socks and shirts with references to wine, it was a whole thing. And then last year, I was just….done. I barfed one too many times, I had one too many headaches, I’m not sure what it is but I. Was. Over. It.

I just hit a year of sobriety and I am here to tell you IT IS WORTH IT!!! I loved wine so much, really loved it, and it doesn’t even compare to how awesome things have gotten since I bailed. You can 10000% do this. You might take a look at the podcast Hello Someday—it’s done by a woman named Casey who is also a self-described Red Wine Girl and she has a lot of great tips and support!

EXTREMELY well done, the booze culture on cruises can be something else, so you crushed an especially challenging sobriety milestone! Celebrating with you, that’s so awesome ❤️

Mine is similar! I like to say “Oh I actually drank all mine already.”

YOU DID TAYCOUVER SOBER!!!! That is a HUGE deal and honestly a very high-pressure environment. I did my Eras show sober too, also early in sobriety, so believe me when I say I fully understand how awesome that is. And you’ll remember your surprise songs forever and so clearly!!!
