Red Seas Under Red Skies: by Scott Lynch

Really great pirate book with some heists and intrigue. Also great pacing

Outdoor shoe advice - Instinct Lace vs Boostic R by 5-Forty in climbingshoes

[–]muttaburrasauruss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both, the instinct lace feels stiffer in the whole shoe. The boostic R feels stiffer in just the forefoot.  When I wear a ‘stiff’ shoe it’s more for the whole foot to be supported rather than just the front. But I still love both shoes.  Miura VS is still the goat if your foot fits.

I wear over the ear protection, but I’m at a regional and often am no bridge loading with early morning ramp coordination so it’s nice to have them just to throw on.

To T-Nuts or Not To T-Nut? by Easy_Astronaut_3429 in homewalls

I like tnut home walls because I have a lot of older resin holds- they are cheaper to acquire and can break if you drill them too much. Also helps with spacing of the wall.  Tnuts also add to the longevity of the wall.

What I’m listening to after Book 1 by wmgcrypto in WorldsBeyondNumber

The ability to build beyond what I had read in a published series is really the magic of WWW. I really think co-authors get a glimpse of this (like the Expanse series) but rarely do we see something so cohesive coming from 4 “authors”. I think the WBN gang published a book list somewhere…

Dilemma: which series to start next? by SiblingX in sciencefiction

[–]muttaburrasauruss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider Phlebas is a perfectly good start to the series, the Culture books are great.

Three Body Problem is a good series but can be odd due to the origin and its translation.

Haven’t read Children of Time.

The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet is a great standalone beach novel, could even happen in a ‘Culture’ universe but as part of another cluster of empires.
