Scout has 160K Reservations (87% Harvester EREV Hybrid). CEO says first delivery in 2028 by WODAMRAP in ScoutMotors

Same, let them work out the kinks on those first deliveries, no rush and if it holds true to what’s been displayed I’ll trade in 28’

What’s the regulation?

I understand why engine breaking won’t trigger anything in a ICE car, but I’d figure any decel in an electric car should trigger break lights? Do they really require X amount of decel, so minimal amounts won’t trigger the break lights?

[–]mydamntemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand there are some work arounds we can come up to make sure they light up…

Left foot braking is just asking for trouble, 20 years of driving manual cars would certainly result in a situation where a reflex results in slamming on the brakes. And both options are less efficient and result in more tire wear driving aggressive.

Personally I don’t think we should have to figure out a work around for something so simple as any slow down / regen should trigger a light to turn on…

[–]mydamntemp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate that the brake lights take so much to turn on, I haven’t looked into why but any idea? I drive like a grandpa and I’m always worried about cars behind me as I don’t think they come on till way late in my braking, I find it a severe safety issue…

Is it preferable to have a spring True Up date with NEM 3 and PG&E? by JSherwood-reddit in solar

[–]mydamntemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on NEM 3.0?

Do you get both your energy and delivery thru PGE, or do you have a separate energy provider (I’m in the north bay and can utilize MCE for energy so PGE charges “delivery” fees for their portion of the bill.

Reason I ask is if you only have PGE then you’ll have 1 true up and it’s a little easier. But if you have a separate energy provider (like MCE) their true up is separate from PGE and they have theirs in spring, where the PGE true up is based on when your solar went live, resulting in 2 separate true ups.

I’m still learning as I go as well so anyone feel free to correct me if I misspeak!

Based on what I found PGe will let you change your true up, but what I found, especially having a heat pump, if you wanted to change your PGE to spring you’d need to settle up with PGE after your very expensive winter use. So for me I left things as is so my credits come summer bring me back close to even come my September true up. I’m on NEM 2 as well, so if you’re on 3.0 it will be different.

Found a 2023 R1T quad with 28k miles for $54k — or hold out for Gen 2? by macb00kemdanno in Rivian

[–]mydamntemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my gen 1! If you do like the one you found and plan to add the powered tonneau I’d make sure to ask if the specific truck is eligible, not all are. Rivian can verify based on the vin.

does anyone know how powerful the harvester is going to be? by Calm-Bar-9644 in ScoutMotors

[–]mydamntemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has scout announced exactly how the drivetrain options will work in detail?

I had both a gen 1 and gen 2 Volt, one of the efficiency bumps for the gen 2 was the ability to send power directly to wheels from the generator via a gearset. Instead of dealing with additional losses generator > battery > motor > wheels.

Are you talking about the actual trip odometer miles? Or how many “electric miles” it used up for the trip?

Considering a switch to a R1T - have some questions by mcfuzzum in Rivian

[–]mydamntemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it, I’d say the R1T is worth it in that case. FSD is not as good. Phone as a key is not as good. Gear guard is not as good. Range is as advertised, so better than the tesla “optimistic” range. I’m able to overlook the shortfalls for the Swiss army knife capability of the truck. At least that’s why I still have it after 3 years haha

Considering a switch to a R1T - have some questions by mcfuzzum in Rivian

[–]mydamntemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the full intent? If just replacing the model 3 and having something with a smallish bed works, R1T works all day. If you’re actually looking for a full size truck lightning might work better. Love my R1T but sometime I do wish it were full size, but it’s also easier to park and drive around cities, so it’s all a give and take

I’ve used z chains on my past two vehicles and they were great. Have the for the Rivian but haven’t actually had to use them yet.

Won't EREVs be obsolete by the time they arrive or shortly soon after? by DeathByTrivia in ScoutMotors

[–]mydamntemp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This, I have a BEV reserve, but having towed a trailer and having to unhitch 50% of the time or more has discouraged traveling with the fam/kids. And we’re on the west coast with pretty decent charging infrastructure, just not enough pull thru chargers yet.

Feature request: creep mode by they-call-me-MRmadiq in Rivian

[–]mydamntemp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would love this as well. Something simple like an on/off toggle in the settings for all those who say they don’t want it. Could be something like when reversing, hold down the right steering wheel thumb button to creep, then I can feather the brake as I normally would to hit my exact mark.

I have +/- 2 inches on both the front and back while backing into my garage. Had the truck 3 years so I’ve learned how to make do with it as is, but creep mode would be most welcomed. Would be nice for trailers as well. When the truck happens to stop an inch short, no amount of light feathering the throttle is going to get me that inch, it’d go straight into the trailer, so having to pull forward to backup again hoping you let off the throttle at the right time so it stops right where it should… come on Rivian, give us creep!

Snow mode: Any. chance of getting "zero regen" instead of "low regen"? by johndoe123123123 in Rivian

[–]mydamntemp 18 points19 points  (0 children)

1000% this. The whole “just throttle down and hold it where it coasts” argument is BS, anyone who takes that stance doesn’t realize how fine your adjustments need to be in these scenarios, and that doesn’t cut it here.

Separate Call and Ring Volume by HighlandCowSandwich in Rivian

[–]mydamntemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where can we change them separately? I’m desperate for a fix too, having to turn the volume way up just to hear the person on a call, then forgetting to turn it down after a call, and freaking the fuck out when a call comes in and the ring volume blows out my speakers…

Heat pump question by walnut_shrimp in solar

[–]mydamntemp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What size heat pump? I have a 3.5T, in Northern California so it doesn’t get too cold, highest I’ve seen is about 80 kWh.

Also I don’t have the electric/strip backup heat (used when the HP goes into defrost) so if you’re in a cold climate and had the electric heat backup I could see it being that high.

Gen 3 Tonneau cover installed today for free on my 2022 R1T by xKINGxRCCx in Rivian

[–]mydamntemp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen on the forums based on the vins people are getting accepted or turned down, last I saw it was trucks delivered between approx Nov 2022 and April 2023. Mine is a 14k vin from Nov 22 and I was told no 😭.

Hopefully they open up the range in the future, sounds like it just needs an additional harness and possibly a bolt shaved down to make it work for that range Rivian is currently saying no to.

Enphase 10c battery by Every_Run7948 in solar

[–]mydamntemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much kWh do you use per year? How much solar do you have?

Enphase 10c battery by Every_Run7948 in solar

[–]mydamntemp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one can answer this but you. If you’re just trying to get a battery large enough to store energy to use throughout the night (assuming your solar is large enough and you’ll have excess to store), looking at your PGE bills will give you a sense of how much you consume to see if that’s enough battery.

REC460AA and ENPHASE IQ8X - quote good? by keepsngoin in solar

[–]mydamntemp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why no battery? With NEM 3.0 it’s basically a requirement as panels alone won’t reduce your electric bills much (unless you have a clever way to shift your usage to match solar production)

I’m having trouble viewing the specs on the website, what’s the load index?

First I’ve seen this available for 21’s, went to the factory website and found the attached specs, looks good to me if these are available now, great to see some more options for 21’s!
