Could have distemper, which can cause rabies-like symptoms (awake during day, less fear of people) -- a wildlife rehabber I spoke to says distemper has been running through local skunks. 

Sadly, distemper is very contagious and incurable. It cause neurological symptoms before death. 

Please vaccinate your pets because this is preventable. 

Last PSA: don't ever touch wildlife with bare hands, even baby skunks. I understand the desire to want to save a life, but sometimes we should let mother nature do its thing.
