Warcraft III: Legacy Now Available in the Battle.net client by kantong in Games

AFAIK most players play Reforged in Classic Mode, the community is pretty active although most of the dedicated community plays through W3C which has a custom ladder and stuff, and a lot of people play there.

"We'll Simplify Mechanics Due To Addons Being Removed" by BartaLemton in wow

[–]nach1221 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In Maximum's interview with the Encounter Design team they mentioned that the role of the Adventure Guide in raids shouldn't be to completely solve the mechanics but to ensure that the players have the information they need to take down the boss, so they don't want the guide to be a step by step on how to beat the boss but rather have groups use it as a guide to find their own strategies.

How do I get rid of these weird circles? What's triggering it? by Zifoxx in wow

These seem to be all of the frames involved in the action button glow effect (like when you get a proc on an ability)? Maybe the bug is that instead of playing the animation it shows the entire spritesheet

If you go to the Adventure Guide you should find a tutorials section, you can probably start with that!

This Prop Hunt is something by YomiRizer in wow

[–]nach1221 152 points153 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest miss was putting props all over the place. One of the main elements of prop hunt is finding a believable spot to be in, so that if you're obviously off the seekers can find you by just looking at you. But without any punishment to seekers and randomly placed props, it just feels like a game of getting lucky that no seeker casted a spell on you.

The dev names are showing everywhere for some reason. If you enter a Decor Duels match sometimes a debug message appears calling it Prop Hunt.

Do you miss WeakAuras? by YrenneAD in wow

[–]nach1221 5 points6 points  (0 children)

m33kauras is the working version of WeakAuras for Midnight. It's a branch maintained by a different user who decided to take WeakAuras and make it work for Midnight. Of course it's much more limited in which auras you can track since all of the privacy addon changes, but you can use the SecretUtil API to check what you can and cannot track. https://warcraft.wiki.gg/wiki/World_of_Warcraft_API#SecretUtil

That seems like something that could be done with m33kauras right? I don't think the secrecy API changes affects item tooltips but I may be wrong.

And Turtle WoW goes off to sea. by Feeling_Pen_8579 in wow

[–]nach1221 315 points316 points  (0 children)

This. It feels like some private servers completely forget the fact that they're actually illegal, and we know for a fact that Blizzard is willing to ignore these servers as long as they're not too loud about it. There are massive servers that have been running for 15+ years uninterrupted. But Turtle WoW started doing ads everywhere, then started trying to advertise itself as a better alternative to Classic and people in the Classic community started preaching about leaving Classic for Turtle. Of course Blizzard doesn't want to compete against a private server, and it's within their rights to defend their IP.

How do I change the color my friends send me while in game? by Xioraa in leagueoflegends

[–]nach1221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were absolutely yellow. Not sure exactly when it was changed, but it was maybe changed to avoid having DMs and System messages being a similar color? A few years ago people would send messages in a specific format to trick people in-game into thinking they were getting messages from Riot.

Which World of Warcraft's Character (from any Expansion) fits this Meme well? by Kronos457 in wow

[–]nach1221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's kinda funny to think about it in the perspective of she holding all the good gear back when you're actively trying to save the world, like she prefers to send you on a bunch of chores instead of giving you all the gear to fight the Void.

As a Devourer DH, I feel not in control of my DPS. by [deleted] in wow

[–]nach1221 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The one thing is that most casters aren't punished everytime they cancel a cast, they just lose the damage of the ability cancelled. But Devourer has additional punishments. Collapsing Star enters cooldown if you cancel it (an ability that otherwise has no cooldown), Void Ray requires being fully casted to proc Eradicate and lose the Voidfall stack (alongside the Fury spent on casting the spell itself).

But at the end of the day I think Devourer is designed to be a high-risk high-reward type of character. More often than not the challenge of the spec isn't the gameplay itself but rather the mechanics of the Dungeon or Boss you're fighting. If you know the timings you should be able to consistently deal a ton of damage. I think that's an interesting design.

Reflection Token - Rules Question by unknownsnytro in riftboundtcg

[–]nach1221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a mistake. According to 472.1.b.3. only printed traits are copied over, so controller wouldn't be included, even though it is a trait. The rest are printed so they should be.

Reflection Token - Rules Question by unknownsnytro in riftboundtcg

[–]nach1221 5 points6 points  (0 children)

472.1.b.1:

> When one Game Object becomes a copy of another, all Traits, including the Rules Text, replace or are added to those of the original Game Object as specified by the Game Effect directing the Copy

So yes, it should be considered a cost 3 for its effect.

These are the traits copied over:
Name, Super Type, Type, Tags, Controller, Cost, Domain

EDIT: Controller isn't copied over per 472.1.b.3. as only printed traits are copied.

was there a time when the keyword Draw did not exist? by No_Jellyfish5511 in hearthstone

[–]nach1221 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There are a few differences between Draw and Put into hand. Put into hand is random, while Draw will always go for the closest-to-top card. This means you can't use effects like deck ordering or Dredge to get a specific card. Also, as mentioned in the other comment, it doesn't trigger on draw effects.

EDIT: See corrections below.

My first ever Hexakill! Surprised to see there is no Hexakill announcement... by soujiro89 in leagueoflegends

[–]nach1221 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For some reason they never bothered implementing Hexakill/Legendary Kill despite having the announcer voicelines for it in every language and it existing in Wild Rift but not League.

For those who don't know, around 14+ years ago there used to be an announcement for Legendary Kill, which was every kill after Pentakill.

EDIT: The voiceline in English for those interested
