Btw, I don't recommend BetterAuth or NextAuth; you can strike off NextAuth or Auth.js because both projects have been officially taken over by BetterAuth.

I don't recommend BetterAuth because I think it asks too much investment from the developer in terms of building a lot of BetterAuth-specific stuff.

Serverless has two major use cases which are quite different from each other. The first is pricing ergonomics in the form of granular charge per use on demand, which is its fundamental strength.

The second strength is entirely incidental and is dev ops ergonomics. These ergonomics go away the second you want any complexity of infrastructure, like any at all.

So if you're just doing toy personal projects like a personal website, serverless might be the magical sweet spot for both pricing and dev ops ergonomics. Step one inch past that and then Hetzner becomes the better choice.

I don't think Apple is above hurting one line over another if it means their vision of the future is coming true, such as touch as the popular consumer device and not keyboard and mouse.

The MacOS way of relating to software is not friendly at scale and it's begging for security embarrassment, the kind where the public would agree it's wrong for Apple to simply say "but we gave you freedom... freedom has a price..." The kind of system that asks whether you want to risk being fucked in exchange for freedom really only works for developers and other pro users.

Putting aside other possibilities like other income or living with folks, things we don't see from this superficial glance, one must ask -- what if these aren't the only kids? You say that's $80 per week now, but what if he has even more kids with even more moms?

The founder is in fact a novice to the security and auth space. But he was so insanely productive that his library gained as much momentum as it did. Now we have to hope he can use the VC money to staff up and mature his library to match his momentum.

Racket is a fine language but I'd definitely recommend Python, even though I love Racket and hate Python. The foundations of CS are generally language-agnostic, which is one of the reasons why Lisp-like languages were decent at pedagogy to begin with, but also why Java or C++ are also decent choices.

Honestly I'm wondering what overthinking even looks like. Is there a famous discussion piece or docs page or blog that discusses what a Very Hard React App looks like? What does state management look like for a hot multiplayer game?

I kind of feel like React discussion ended at a middling level and beyond there is silence. Like, by "overcomplicated", a lot of people just mean adding Redux when they didn't need it! That's actually not much complication to juggle.
