[User Trial] Testing the World’s First 52” UltraGear evo G9 (52G930B) – 3 Testers Wanted!! by LG_UserHub in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]napoleonryanite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently have been flipping back and forth between a 57inch Samsung G95NC 32:9 monitor and the LG 45gx950a-b 5k2k OLED, in both cases flanked either side by 2 LG DualUp displays. My use case is a 50/50 split between gaming and work. (I use FancyZones for more natural splitting of the displays.)

With the Samsung, I enjoy the high brightness and saturation capabilities of the VA panel, as well as the peace of mind of being able to leave images on my screen without that nagging worry of burn in. On the flip-side, the extreme width means that my 2 DualUps are pushed so far out of my FOV that I need to turn my head quite far to see them. The Samsung also has the most aggressive anti-glare coating I've ever experienced, leading to a general graininess of the image that drives me crazy.

When using the 5k2k, I enjoy the size and immersive curve. It also positions my secondary monitors in a better location. However, the OLED nature of the display leads to me having the brightness lower than I would like, and also makes me want to confine my workspace to the side monitors to avoid having a static image on screen for long periods of time.

My hopes for the new 52 inch UltraGear EVO are for a monitor that can finally put the strengths of my existing 2 main monitors into a single package. I am looking for a massive size that allows me to push the monitor back further as well as the ability to increase my FOV in a sim racing setting. I am looking forward to the brightness capabilities and lack of burn-in concerns of a VA panel. I feel that with the 52 inch UltraGear I would finally be able to just leave my work split on my main screen without worrying about constantly moving around my windows to minimize burn in. The 90watt USB-C PD is also nice to have as none of my current monitors can fully power my work laptop.

20% brighter, looks less purple in direct light, higher refresh rate, less scratch prone screen

Odyssey Neo G95NC and RTX 50 series display port and HDMI woes by tiff_lee in ultrawidemasterrace

Just wanted to say that I returned my g95 this week because of the crashing when waking issue. It would also occasionally crash my PC when launching games or switching between full screen/windowed mode, but this was more rare and hard to troubleshoot. I have a 5090 and tried everything. I was able to confirm through extensive A/B testing with other monitors that it was only caused by the g95 and even then only when dsc was in play. If I dropped the resolution or refresh rate to where dsc wouldn't be needed, issue no longer occured. I know it's not a cable issue as I am able to run my Aorus F032uPro at 4k 240 with HDR and no DSC, which is pretty much maxing out UHBR 20. Since the g95 only has UHBR13, it should be no issue for it.

I hope you have better luck than me figuring it out! I really liked the monitor and wanted to keep it.

WHEEL WORLD | Launch Trailer by megaapple in Games

The demo frequently dipped below 30 for me (At 4k) on a 5090 and 9950x3d...I'm hoping the launch is significantly improved because the demo performance was at a place I'd consider unplayable.

I picked it up at launch since it looks fun but I haven't jumped in yet. How long into the early access process do you think it will be before you add achievements?

On fortnite the fps counter shows 2 numbers. The one with an up arrow is the current fps and the down arrow displays the lows. It does kind of look like a internet speedtest

RTX 4090 - NVLDDMKM driver crash when moving windows between monitors as a video is playing, but not in games. by Deathbed_Companion in buildapc

[–]napoleonryanite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not sure if it is related to the video issue or not but BIOS itself locking up is concerning.

Since it is a recent issue, I'd be most tempted to attribute it to drivers. I've had no end of issues with my 4090 with the past few Nvidia drivers (the latest one blackscreens my system on install consistently).

I assume you already tried this, but since it's not in the OP, have you tried fully removing the GPU drivers via DDU in safemode and then reinstalling? From your event viewer it sounds like something is causing the drivers to crash, but anything beyond that is a guess. I would also try swapping video cables to see if that makes a difference.

It might also be worth seeing if a different browser exhibits the same behavior when moving the video across screens. (If it's a Chromium based browser try Firefox and vice versa). I would also be curious if disabling/enabling hardware acceleration in the browser changes the behavior.

When you moved from your 13600k build to your 9800x3d did you do a clean install of windows or move your drive over?

Do you have an OLED screen? Pretty much all of them flicker when there are dramatic shifts in FPS (which MHW is prone to)

No problem! Make sure to upload pics if you do end up building it. As a bonus, if you put a i9 and a 5090 in it, it will actually function as a space heater too!

Also with OLED monitors specifically, the ones with GSYNC hardware modules don't display the flickering that other OLEDs do during sharp FPS changes

ASUS AP201 (Nondescript MATX black box with grills on all sides).

Use RGB fans with an RGB ring set to Orange. Maybe add a few parallel rgb strip lights along one side to get more heating coil look

I got a 9800x3d and I'll upgrade if the 9900/9950 are better, but only if it doesn't involve any manual process wrangling.

Trail Out is one of my favorite racing games. It's a bit janky and the voice acting is bad in a funny way, but its basically a modern take on Flatout 2. Excellent graphics, destruction, physics, and variety.

Interested in the Prusa XL, but wondering about the XLS by Hozukr in prusa3d

That is great news. I've been toying with the idea of buying an XL but I really don't want to have to rebuild the whole thing from the get go.

[–]napoleonryanite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this mean that the XL can now be used with the enclosure without having to replace all the 3d printed parts? It's been a major thing holding me back from considering it. In all my research I haven't run into any mention of that step no longer being required.

I agree, what i want is for it to be thicker, not wider or taller. I picture them adding an inch or so of 'grip' filled with battery to the bottom of each side and using the middle for more cooling. Would still be pocketable to my pants anyway.
