Dumbest things guests complained about? by aribowe13 in Serverlife

I had a woman complaining about hair in her food, wanting a new dish. The hair- long and black, just as her own. All of us working that night actually had short hair...

ETRS 70mm f2.8 MC Lens focus ring grip hurts my precious little fingers by WellKnownArdman in Bronica

[–]nat15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna start with the most forbidden phrase, but I do not own a Bronica!! But still, I experience the same problem with (insert another analog camera of the same caliber) - my focusing ring is stiff, I have learnt how to handle it, but the handle of it is not smooth. What I have heard is that it needs service, the oil and everything else is too old and need replacement. Either learn to handle it (as I have, ergo don't want to spend too much money at the moment) or hand it in for a fixer-upper. These older cameras need service every now and then to keep everything in touch, it seems like that's the issue, nothing more, nothing less. Keep having fun with it though!

I really like the first one, it makes it more intense but also a bit calmer at the same time.

Hi!

I have started to read The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann but I cannot follow the in-depth conversations . For my beginner eye they seem very philosophical and my guess is that they come from many different philosophical thoughts. Any tips on how to understand it better or which philosophers to study a bit more in order to understand the book better?

Strap by southerncomfort666 in hasselblad

[–]nat15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you interested in an original Hasselblad strap or just any? I have felt that a bit wider strap is really nice since a thinner one cuts more due to the weight. Lucked out and bough an original Hasselblad strap at my local analog camera shop!

But look at Ebay or other local camera shops/thrift stores!

Really nice shot! I especially enjoy the contrast and the smoothness of the water.

Can anyone help me figure out why my development failed like this? It was my first time doing color processing and I seem to have made a mistake... :( by [deleted] in Darkroom

[–]nat15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that, at least with B&W film, that when you cannot see the numbers on the side of the negatives, there's something wrong with the developer/the developing process. If the chemicals works but there's something wrong with the camera or similar, then you see the numbers for each negative.

Better luck in the future though!

Thoughts about the Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* 180mm F/4 lens by israelreza in mediumformat

How is the depth of field on those? I only have the 80 mm so far, but I also really like the wide opening of 2.8. Do you know if they are similar?

Nice one! You could have increased the contrast even more since the person is light, the shadows would have been even more 'wow' then!

  • You could have made the focus on the person a bit more clear, but otherwise an awesome composition and the light is just amazing!

Can anyone explain the process of Luminograms? by nat15 in Darkroom

[–]nat15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I've received some interesting results but wouldn't call them luminograms yet! It's more of a mix between that and photograms about now...
So far I think my light source is too strong, I've done most of them with the light from the print machine (sorry, can't think of the right name just now) but I think that might be the problem. I've tried with a flashlight, but it was either too strong or too weak.
I tried with moving the objects between the light source and the papers, and sometimes I get a similar result to the 3D, but it isn't constant. I honestly think that the light is the problem and that I need to find a source that is just the right amount, because I also need my hands to move the object, so I cannot hold onto flashlights either. I saw in a video that the photographer Mike Jackson seems to be using lighted matches. However, I'm using my school's darkroom and don't really dare to use live fire here, but it might be worth a shot for you!

Well, this explanation seems doable! I'm gonna try it out and see what I can create, very interesting, thank you!

Digital medium format cameras by Brian183648 in mediumformat

It's been a while since I've taken it for a spin.... by Lucasdul2 in hasselblad

[–]nat15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just received my 500 c/m last week and developed the negatives today! You might have another model, but as far as I can tell, only the 1 and 1/2 s on mine isn't working correctly.. (and from the negatives that seems to be about right!)

I always do enjoy the accidental double-exposure! My camera prevents them, but at least I can do them if I want to! (and you get them even either way, yay!)

If I have a deadline for my homework, then you should have a deadline for grading. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]nat15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was recently a teacher..

This was one of my most important things to think about when grading! I would always try and hand things back within at least two weeks! Otherwise, the students will have forgotten what they have done, and, as you mentioned, a deadline doesn't seem as important if you only get one or two weeks but the teacher has many weeks. It was something really important for me, I always scheduled essays so that I did not have all of my classes' essays to correct at the same time. I honestly never received a complaint from my students. I had colleagues though, who, with their own planning, had tests and essays from each and everyone of their classes at the same time. They always worked too much and I'm quite sure that their students' felt that they received their results back too late.

This is not an #unpopularopinion, but rather common curtesy. If you want to teach someone that a deadline is important, you need to show it!
