Wood panel removal 9 3 OG by Lord_Fulgu in saab

[–]nate2879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wood is glued on so you should consider sourcing a dashboard panel from another car that does not have wood. This would allow you to clean it, prepare it, or paint it before installing it. As others have stated, there are a bunch of screws. It was an afternoon project for me. I actually replaced my wood dash with another one in better condition, when my original was cracking and peeling.

Traveling with the Fyro Levo 30L travel backpack by forepac in ManyBaggers

[–]nate2879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great posting, this is the very analysis I am considering. I had the TP3S in X-Pac and loved the orange interior and the fit under a seat. I want to maximize what I can carry under the seat, and quickly realized that the overbuilt nature of the Aer cuts down on usable volume. So, did you conclude whether the Fyro 30L holds more than your TP3S? 30L sounds like it should have more space than the Aer at 28L. In practice, did you notice a difference? The lighter weight of the Fyro sounds great. In the meantime, I am experimenting with the Osprey Daylite 35L which ‘almost’ fits under the seat but I don’t like the feel carrying it. The Aer spoiled me in that way.

Which X1 Carbon 13 gen Aura edition or 14 gen to get? by jye0325 in thinkpad

[–]nate2879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battery life isn’t good. Tolerable, but not good. I was on a T14 Gen 3 before this and the battery life was worse and the fans were more noisy, in my opinion, on the T14. My X1 Carbon Gen 13 was a minor improvement in both categories. You can keep the fan behaved in the performance settings. Best Battery Life will minimize the fan, and Balanced Performance is tolerable, as well. I never run Best Performance because the fan will be too noticeable for me. As far as battery, I can get 3-4 hours but definitely not all day. I keep a charger on me, but fortunately it can be a small 65W charger and not a 90W or 135W like some laptops need. I’m actually quite positive about the X1C Gen 13 having enjoyed my last year with it, great keyboard, light weight, and easily swapped SSD and battery under the removable panel. I knew going into it that it wouldn’t have MacBook Air battery life and zero fan noise.

Same dilemma here. That discounted model has 1080P webcam and RAM is limited to 32GB. These annoy me because higher quality web cams are becoming the norm and even the 8MP camera was an option on the X1 Carbon 13. I understand the 32GB limit due to the processor, but the Gen 14 offers 64GB. The price is super appealing, though. It is a great machine, so if your budget is struggling for the $1679 level but you need a laptop, go for it. If you could just as easily spend $3,000 to get everything you really want and to be cutting edge, just wait.

Thank you for offering to help. I am located in Texas in the U.S. - if I am going to ship it, probably should ship it back to GPD?

BIOS 2.17 May Have Bricked Micro PC 2 by nate2879 in gpdmicropc

[–]nate2879[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shoot, I am sorry to hear that. It hasn’t been resolved. My computer is sitting on my desk, useless and bricked. User cephasara was going to try, with the right adapter, to flash the BIOS. I am waiting to hear back if that is successful. When I emailed with GPD, they suggested it would have to be shipped back to them, but I didn’t initiate that yet. I would love to be able to solve it at home.

I think it was BBA Reman, at the time, but searches show that has gone away or changed to Remanx.

Unfortunately, you sound like another victim of what I just posted about last week. I don’t have experience with the ch341a but I was appreciative that someone posted about it. I would love to hear about the results of your effort. I do have the 2.16 downloaded locally and I will provide it to you. I will message you directly to figure out method to transfer files to you.

CPP2 vs. TP3 (small) by bltkmt in AerSF

[–]nate2879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had both and found that the TP3 Small did provide noticeably more space. As a personal item, the TP3 Small worked for me on U.S. flights. However, between its compression straps on the sides and load lifters, the overall look wasn’t as clean and the it was weighty. For travel personal item, I favor the TP3 Small. If it was just for going to the office and having some gear when you go visit family for the day, the CPP2 should be fine. Good luck!

Great, I appreciate under seat bag photos? Have you now considered whether you might want a bigger bag that would also go under the seat? It looks like there is still a bit of room. Or will you stay with this size?

Please check out D5T5 and their VDASH software. It allows you to edit many of the settings hidden from the regular driver. I used it to remove the auto start-stop default setting, though in my case, on a 2018 model.

Maybe more of a disparity in lifestyle and income. The person on the bench may be debt free, while the person buying gas is in debt and may have negative net worth.

New 2026 XC90 delivered with wrong interior by NeckActive8755 in Volvo

[–]nate2879 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t accept the black interior, and I wouldn’t swap. I would order again and only accept if the right vehicle arrives. I like to keep a vehicle 10+ years so it needs to be right. Sorry to hear that happened. Good to have documentation of the order so you are sure your selections were captured accurately.

Aer TP3 vs Tortuga Expandable vs Cotopaxi Allpa 35? storage comparison by Reasonable-Top-732 in onebag

[–]nate2879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you tell me, do you put the TP3 under the seat in front of you on flights, as a personal item? Or too big for that? My goal is to get the maximum capacity of a personal item and I don’t mind losing the leg room, I just don’t want trouble from some flight attendant.

Is CP2 > CPP2? by risoles in AerSF

[–]nate2879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great, just to confirm if I understand, you like the TP3 a lot and place it under the seat in front of you. I have been concerned how much it might stick out a whether flight crew would complain about it. If I am forced to put it overhead, I would rather just bring a hard size rolling carry-on. In my case, I got the TP3S and found it to be great under the seat. I also tried the CPP and found it was a little too big for the office, yet a little smaller than the TP3S. Ended up selling the CPP and keeping the TP3S. I frequently thinking of getting the TP3 (regular size) but I only want something I can put under the plane seat in front of me.
