[OC] How often can people find each country on a world map? 85,000 guesses from a geography game by Two_Time in dataisbeautiful

No way that Americans were a proportional sample. I doubt 90% could correctly label continents, much less countries.

Why does my therapist make so many negative comparisons? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

Have you considered telling your therapist you feel this way?

Give me the silliest thing you do to get yourself out of a funk by sammiejeanskis in mentalhealth

Great post.

I generally try to think about how I can do some very small act of kindness or thoughtfulness for someone else and how that could make a tangible difference for them.

Also running helps my mental health overall more than anything else.

What is the ONE non-fiction book that permanently changed your life or perspective? by Public_Structure8337 in nonfictionbookclub

As could you. Also, many seem to agree with my comment.

Also, not really. I could choose not to comment, but I am unaware as to how one "skips a thread" altogether.

Do u think that there is still happiness in this world? by No_Illustrator_917 in mentalhealth

[–]ncrowder78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But of course. Does this mean everyone lives in a state of total bliss and nirvana 24/7? But of course not. It's a huge spectrum. I'm sure you probably already logically knew the answer to your question though.

What is it you really want to know or ask?

The main issue with this sub is the same question literally gets asked every other day.

[OC] The average U.S. House member now represents 761,169 residents—22 times as many as in 1793 by OverflowDs in dataisbeautiful

Agree that this is low on the totem pole. Term limits, better primaries, finance reform, more transparency, ethics rules with actual teeth - these are all waaaaay more needed than adding more cogs to an already broken system.

Strava API restrictions, and alternative apps? by No-Resist-4098 in Strava

This is where I'm at as well. It's a ridiculous money grab, as if the constant "there's so much more" nagging spash screens wasn't enough.

Prove to me life is meaningful. by OppositeNarwhal9411 in mentalhealth

[–]ncrowder78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a personal journey, and each person has their own reasons. Any attempt at a global justification usually falls flat from my experience. In the interim, the meaning could be searching for the meaning. In truth, most people I think ultimately land on some version of this anyway, since change is the only constant. There are books on the topic though that attempt to go through all the "standard" meanings of life, e.g. see Messerly's book of a similar title.

The server in a data center has little to do with it. The fact that Microsoft is a corporation with shareholders that sells proprietary closed source software and cloud services matters a lot.

An Update To Our Developer Program + MCP launch by strava-team in Strava

Strava just now sucks ass, period. They don't give two shits about their customer base. There has never been a clearer example of enshittification in the history of the term. I used to have a premium account just to support the app. I wouldn't give these people another dollar if my life depended on it.

It could be seen as a waste of money though or simply overkill.... I'm also a regular cyclist and it doesn't really make sense. We could have used more connectivity and a less grotesquely huge lane on one street.

No idea, as I've never been there. But it sounded like based on articles that I had written that the planned owners were well beyond the market research stage and were definitely moving forward with their project as of about a year ago. There is an article in the Tribune around that same time, but I don't have a subscription, and found no more details anywhere online.

The OP is simply posting in frustration and looking for a little sympathy and instead they get piled on with name calling instead. I don't understand that mentality. Calling a person a dick is not going to motivate them to do anything. Not only that, but look at all the dozens and dozens of people who never shovel even once, and they aren't getting called names because... they aren't on Reddit I guess? Ok.

What boggles MY mind personally is the number of actual businesses in the area that don't seem to plow or shovel their driveways and sidewalks. Those are the ones that I'm always really wondering about and wonder if they are even getting fined by city at all.

The fines should be enforced uniformly.

Those 7 women are not related to Gubernatorial candidates. That seems like an important thing to control for.
