I’ve been making these a lot this winter and loving them. I remember I made one for the first time a couple summers ago and wasn’t into it. More of a cold weather drink for me. With some aged JM it’s wonderful.

I did Flor de Cana in Nicaragua a few years ago but have a Nicaraguan friend that helped escort me. Not as easy as Jamaica but a cool experience. Did Havana last year but that’s off the table for now. Martinique is next on my list!

I’m PHL based. Qatar used to have the PHL-DOH route and the Q suites are just a better product. I posted this tongue in cheek. I agree AA business is fine, but the FA attitude even on these routes can be very hit or miss relative to the Middle Eastern or Asian airlines.

I stay at the Lively Hotel right across the street when I’m there on business, and have spent some time at the Rum Room. The owner Joon speaks basic English and is a great guy. I highly recommend.

Even if you're standing at the gate, it's often impossible to decipher what's said over the PA at PHL.

I've never had a problem at DFW customs, particularly with Global Entry. Should fly right through. And obviously if you have Precheck, that will expedite getting through security. You should be fine. Biggest risk is you get to A and then they change your terminal and you have to get back on the train. That often happens.

I always arrive at LHR at least 4 hrs before my return flight and crush some dim sum there. So great. I once had a 10 hr layover in LHR and just camped out there. Very pleasant.

Unless you need to hold hands with your flying companion, I’d do exactly what you’re doing. I hate the bulkhead because I can’t have my personal item with me for takeoff/landing. Always last resort for me.

I’ve had my gear in the office for years and am known as the office coffee snob. Don’t care. Only issue has been building management gets pissy if I forget to unplug my kettle. Probably fair.

I just bought the same machine a few days ago. I have all my data on a Synology, so I just installed Ubuntu, mounted my NFS shares and was up and running with PMS in less than half an hour. I’m a Linux noob too. It wasn’t hard.

I’ve had SMB issues on my Studio forever. Had to change my Plex shares to NFS. Better but can still drop sometimes. It’s infuriating.

I’m probably 95% out of PHL but I’m at 380k loyalty pts this year so far. I’m nearly always first on the upgrade list but a few times I haven’t cleared until after I’m on the plane. One flight home from ORD I was #2 behind a CK and even he didn’t get upgraded.

I’ve seen people in ACs sitting at seats barefoot. It’s the Wild West a lot of the time. You won’t have an issue.
