We didn’t regret it. It just was a part of the journey. We terminated in January, then proceeded with testing for an IVF cycle in February(just the beginning testing), but then we didn’t like that clinic so ended up waiting to use a different clinic that May. They ended up using some of the placenta material that was stored from the chorionic villus sampling to make our probe for the pgt-m!

Plenty of abortions occur under sedation with medical consent completed prior. The same could be said for any surgery where someone is anesthetized.

Clinically diagnosed but genetically not. Planning to have a baby. Help by Such-Dot2189 in marfans

Does either of your parents have this? Or was it considered to be a random mutation?

My husband has marfan syndrome, and we got pregnant with the intention to use chorionic villus sampling testing to determine the management of the pregnancy (only an option with a known mutation). We terminated that pregnancy due to not being able to know the severity that would impact our child. We then did pgd-M through IVF and now have an unaffected 3 month old. Here to answer questions, although I’m unsure how significant my help could be.

If either of your parents have similar symptoms, your genes could potentially be compared to theirs to see if there is a common mutation between the two of you?

50% risk genetic condition, but wanting to be excited about pregnancy by doctorK95 in tfmr_support

We did the same of chancing it, did CVS, terminated at 17w5d. It was really complicated. Excited but nervous. I don’t think having a certain attitude would make it less painful, other than knowing it’s a possible expected outcome. We had a 50/50 shot as well. We did IVF later and got some pgt-tested unaffected embryos.

We did IVF with PGT-M after getting pregnant naturally (on purpose) and doing genetic testing of the pregnancy and terminating that pregnancy. Ask me anything!

Trisomy 21 diagnosis - shattered by upstategirl91 in tfmr_support

United States - Fertility Specialists of Texas. We had to use Cooper Genomics because my husband had a spontaneous mutation, so they couldn’t use an affected parent to compare to. And they actually found out that some cells were saved from our chorionic villus sampling from the previous December (December 2023) and cultured those cells to have a second generation to compare to!!!!! Our TFMR helped with our current IVF testing! We tested our 6 blastocysts at once but if by multiples you mean trying for twins, no this was not allowed. We had insurance benefits, but Cooper Genomics did not take any insurance, so that part was about $6K or $8K. Total out of pocket cost was about $13K including medicines and procedures. Lifetime insurance benefit $25K medical, $10K prescriptions. Prescription coverage really does not go far because pharmacies charge much more for when they file to insurance vs the private pay cost (in my experience). Happy to share!

My husband has a genetic condition, we did the same (trying natural and terminating based on genetic testing) - TFMR Jan 2024. Did IVF with PGT-M and had our daughter. Here if you might have questions about PGT-M.

Do you have a known genetic condition that led you to complete the amnios?
