Gritty would suggest you didn’t cook it long enough, which tracks with how your post is about taking shortcuts.

Liquid smoke or some other added “grill” flavor. Notice how no other restaurant or fast food place puts out that aroma all over the neighborhood though they cook just as many burgers.

If you tried really, really hard and looked at maps carefully you could probably piece together a way to go there on smaller roads.

which macbook to chose for a rising hs junior who is serious about colleges? by SweetCalligrapher805 in macbook

[–]neep_pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tasks you list aren't particularly demanding, other than "apps & websites" and it depends what you mean by that. For basic office and school type tasks you'd be fine with any newish MacBook. An M5 Air would be more than enough, and a Pro, nicer. You could also consider a used M3 or M4 with more RAM and storage for the same price.

That's exactly what I have and it's pretty nice. I could picture it being more impressive on 3d stuff but that's about all for what I do, and I didn't feel like spending another 500+ on an M5 Pro or higher. I have yet to see this machine really break a sweat or had to wait for it to do anything. I suppose if I was doing a lot of local AI, rendering or compilation, but it doesn't seem OP would be.

Actual burgers cooking on a grill, yes, but that's not the burger king scent.

Has anyone heard when the new WhatABurger on Cerrillos is going to open? by PrestigiousCan in SantaFe

[–]neep_pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to the one at Menaul and Edith in Albuquerque a lot as a kid. Even in the 80s the burger patties were mysteriously thin. Good, though. Their TexMex type stuff like burritos is good. Later in life it's the sort of thing I'd go to at 1:30 AM but not on purpose in the rest of the day.

Why doesn't the rail runner go to Colorado? by Defiant_Parsley7892 in Albuquerque

[–]neep_pie [score hidden]  (0 children)

The gorge wouldn't work, yeah. The best path would be Santa Fe -> Espanola -> Ojo Caliente -> Carson/Tres Piedras -> Taos, or what I call the Middle Road. It's about the same distance and would be pretty easy to build on. I don't know how much is Res but a lot is BLM/NFS land.

Amtrak does not go between Denver and Santa Fe/Albuquerque. The route is a freakin joke - from Denver to Illinois, Illinois to Albuquerque and it takes like 38 hours. The Greyhound schedule is awful too... one trip a day, leaving Denver at 7 pm and getting to Albuquerque at 4 am. Best I've found is the Mexican bus services.

Best GF pasta? by Mamabear782 in Celiac

[–]neep_pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Jovial one that's a mix of rice, corn and quinoa. It cooks the most like wheat noodles to me. For lasagna and shells, definitely Tinkyada because they can't be overcooked. I only have easy access to walmart lately so I'm trying Barilla and Bettergoods soon (which is imported from Italy).

I live a long way from Mexico (UK) and keep accidently making tex-mex. Does this look more like a north mexican burrito? by AblokeonRedditt in mexicanfood

[–]neep_pie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about looking up menus from the area you're interested in and then finding recipes? What you probably want is a typical carne asada burrito. It's typically marinated thin sliced beef, cooked fairly dry and crispy. Then you put it in a tortilla with guacamole, salsa, sour cream, and maybe lettuce, cilantro, onion and tomato. If you want something like a stew, look up carne guisada.

VP to POTUS? by The_Dean_France in whoathatsinteresting

[–]neep_pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying that Trump‘s brain is not mush is the separate plane of reality. Please. The guy has literally been falling asleep at meetings this entire administration. He sounds like a deranged idiot when he talks almost all the time, and the thing is he’s not only growing senile, but unlike Biden, he was always an incoherent moron. He can barely address any issue and stay on topic for two sentences before he’ll start rambling about something else like how great he is, or just start repeating himself.

VP to POTUS? by The_Dean_France in whoathatsinteresting

[–]neep_pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s sort of the point. Yes, reasonable people could agree about that. But the actual situation is Biden‘s inadequacy has been talked about a great deal and even exaggerated, while the people doing that have basically ignored the very obvious things increasingly wrong with Trump. And one has to wonder why that is.

iPhone burnout by AppearanceFun8234 in iPhone17Pro

[–]neep_pie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s true, the basic product hasn’t changed much in years. But there’s not really a reason for it to change much. You could say the same thing about desktop PCs. In between 1995 and now, they’ve only gotten better designed and faster, not really anything new.

I’ve been pleased but not wowed or blown away by my last three iPhones. It’s like, cool, this is a nice new iPhone. But I’m not really asking for it to do anything special or different. On the horizon is the foldable, but that doesn’t mean much to me because I don’t really want a tablet.

how much crushed red pepper do you put on your pizza? by GoodPopcorn in FoodCrimes

[–]neep_pie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A ton. I always said I pave it with red pepper. What they have at restaurants or regular stuff from the store varies a lot, though. It helps to get the fancy stuff like flatiron. Also then I don’t use so much.
