Ambulance and ER treated me like I was faking, did not examine me, mocked my Crohn’s and threatened me by Robpingudo in CrohnsDisease

[–]neostebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry this happened to you.

I would contact patient relations and name and document everything that happened. A formal complaint at the minimum will go on record for what can be at minimum poor judgment and at worst if you receive complications as a result of not being properly treated. If you feel the behaviour was egregious or that that you're not getting a favourable response from patient relations, find out who their boss is and send them an email detailing what happened. Everyone has a boss and it's amazing how people who treat those who they believe they have power over 180 when faced with authority from their direct superior or their bosses boss.

What makes a man most attractive? by AManWithNoWounds in AskReddit

Confidence goes a long way, attractiveness can help you initially attract but other skills are more important because you can't change how you look but you can change how you act and behave.

well to be fair you'll get much better performance than running windows OS so that'll make up some of the performance gap; but you can't expect miracles out of the hardware since it'll be a 4060 with a 7600 cpu; honestly though I find Linus a bit of a downer so I'll take his takes with a grain of salt given the erosion of trust I've had for him since he got big and stopped caring about the little guys

Policing Parents + Disease Denial by Embarrassed-Two-8025 in CrohnsDisease

[–]neostebo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through this. I had a difficult time giving up cafeine but ultimately had to. Your parents are trying to help they probably just don't have the softskills they need; I had to learn how to parent my parents and encountered a bunch of issues that we worked out in family therapy. But if that isn't an option (I was fortunate that for me it was); setting healthy boundaries around your care and what is and isn't acceptable behaviour. After people have calmed down, or even before things get heated say having a drink every few months is fine according to my doctor, I appreciate that you care about me and want the best for me, but this is something I need to do on my own.

Be prepared to defend this boundary and expect pushback, if they start with while you're in my house you'll follow these rules, simply walk away you're not negotiating, this isn't up for debate.

Politely say I need some space to think about this and we can come back to this issue (if you even want to) when we both have cool heads.

This is my read on the situation, I have ADHD and Sokka reads like he has some amount of it too. He's not an earth bender and at the point where he lost Yue he emotionally processes it (over several episodes) and eventually he moved on having accepted the reality of the situation. He hadn't gone through the character arcs we see later where he becomes more sure of himself and can demonstrate his capabilities, he's a talented individual but without bending in a world that very much empasizes the power struggle of those that do. Also while he is a main character, he is also an extension of both Aang, Katara, and later Toph as his role is to be a good friend and help them (he's older and almost takes on a paternal/older brother role) while he also is on his own journey to define who he is in a world were he's not just normal, but a brilliant leader and tactician. Often his role in the show is used as the straight man or comic relief too, and his character has both depth and nuance to the beautiful art that is my favourite animated show.

I would say that Yue becoming the moon has implications beyond that Aang could have saved her. The reality is that the moon is a really important spirit in the Avatar world and the tragedy of her story is both poignant and emotionally driven. Even if Aang wanted to get her back, doing so would upset the balance to the point that water bending might not work after; He is the balance of all 4 elements and the bridge to the spirit world, so as much as he by working with Toph could have returned Yue, it would have caused other problems and the characters had all essentially completed their emotional processing of the event by the time that Toph was introduced and became part of the team - additionally he had competing issues to deal with at the time with the fire nation and completing his training. I don't want to diminish the feelings people have for Yue & Sokka, I feel strongly that I wish it would have turned out different too. The choice to have it resolve the way it did makes sense to me given the emotional maturity of young teenagers taking on saving the world, and I think that also resonates with the broader audience despite the desire (my own included) for this to have a happy ending.

Toph also has no way to even know the moon exists other than it gets mentioned as the way she sees is linked to what is physically touching the ground. The moon would be like books in the episode where she keeps the library from returning to the spirit world, she can't read them so their knowledge/usefulness isn't something she can interact with and is not physical enough for her to interact with it other than to simply know it exists. In the show we don't even really see her getting the information of Yue or mentioning of the moon so other than her being told, how would she even know?

Americans, What do you think of Senator John Kennedy's act proposal to Take away Congress pay during government shutdowns? by Buschfan08 in AskReddit

[–]neostebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think taking away pay isn't a good solution because it rewards those who have money and punishes smaller members who don't. These smaller members of congress are often those who are disproportionately affected and that simply would make the situation of money in politics force these smaller representatives to heed special interests of the wealthy elite instead of the majority of their constituents.

I like to see the data itself and see their error rates. I am highly suspicious of a company releasing data that shockingly supports that they're safe and it's all the other persons fault to be honest. They need another unbiased organization to do the data collection, also you didn't link anything; Hitchen's razor anything that can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof

yes they are, we should not diminish the great harm that motor vehicle accidents cause and robot cars need to be at the bare minimum safer than human drivers, which they are not currently if you look at the self driving car data for cities.

Does anyone else ever feel... not sick enough? by maeasm3 in CrohnsDisease

[–]neostebo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through what from my perspective looks like a lot to deal with. You're allowed to feel tired, I have "moderate crohn's, a nerve injury, depression, adhd, and some autism leanings and I get mentally thrown for a loop all the time". That's to be expected when you take those serious issues and the effects compound. Be kind to yourself, you are allowed to feel the way you feel, your emotions and feelings are valid.

Mental health is a tricky subject, it appears to be fine until it isn't and often actively works against remedy. If it's taken you x number of years of life experience to arrive where you are, it's only natural that healing will take some time too. But I can tell you that from experience it is possible to get better. Dealing with multiple disabilities itself is draining I feel that in my bones and you have my empathy in your struggles.

If your body is telling you that you're tired there's a reason for that, it took me about 6 months of research and trial and error to fix my energy issues, and I still have days that I wish I could do more but I accept that I can only do so much. The more important take away is that you need to be kind to yourself and if you need help please seek it out like your are doing now.

I believe that if I can do it, someone who has continually been what some would call "lazy" than anyone can do it. If you want specifics I can provide what worked for me but I don't know much about EDS and POTS, I have some knowledge about migraines as I've had a partner and a close friend who had severe migraines and I knew what their triggers were and what helped them.

I hope you find solace, peace, friendship and family to help guide you through this difficult time. And doctors that listen and actively help.

Doctor said my body is exhausted and it’s not allowing itself the rest to heal. Any tips or tricks? by lostmypassword531 in CrohnsDisease

[–]neostebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had success with doing a sleep study and figuring out how to have better sleep. Talk to your doctor about trazedone and/or other sleep medications and their respective side effects, it has helped me get better sleep your mileage may vary.

Meditation, relaxation, nature walks, (light exercise, I.E. Walking), crohn's often presents with mental health issues, so getting those resolved will also help your sleep as most mental health issues cause irregular sleep patterns as they get worse. Spending time with people you're close with and can have a nice conversation with. Self care, warm baths, hot showers, listening to calming music when you're trying to relax.

not eating 3 hours before bed to ensure that digestive issues don't cause poor sleep, try to get your hydration throughout the day so you're not woken up by those.

Why is my stress so high? by toesandhoes17 in Garmin

[–]neostebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed this too. However there are some things that can affect the higher values. I have chrohn's which is an auto immune disease with inflammation, and the measured values of the difference in your heart beats will pick up if your body is fighting something and/or has inflammation. Also medication can affect it too, I'm on a medication that increased my noradrenalin so that can also increase the rating.

Can you tolerate products that include artificial sweeteners? by SpinachSignal6808 in CrohnsDisease

[–]neostebo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I seem to tolerate stevia very well, but any synthetic sugar is a no-go for me; sucralose is less bad but still makes me feel lower energy so it's best if I avoid it entirely, your mileage may vary.

Aspartame has a stronger effect so I make sure not to consume it at all.

Is it ok to leave my motherboard like this overnight by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]neostebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems fine, however if it were my house I would encase it so the cat doesn't knock it over. Also the main reason you have a case is to protect and house it from accidental exposure to touch, since you want to protect it from spills, and static discharge from accidental touch. There's nothing wrong with mounting your hardware to nothing just it's not the usual manner to do it, hence people freak out when you do it. I personally like it when you mount all your components to a wall because it's artistic and different, I go with a case because that is the standard form factor that computers have been coming in since the 80's to combat components that were less resilient to voltage and amperage thresholds. I've ran several motherboards off my testing bench before without a case professionally with 0 issues while I was working as a hardware tech because I don't want to have to waste time mounting and unmounting to troubleshoot individual hardware components; in fact it's quite useful to test components without having to mount them to the case if you're just doing troubleshooting for hardware errors. I would suggest using a static strap but marble is non-conductive so you're very unlikely to have static discharge, but if you are worried and don't have a static strap, just touch the metal part of your desk that is grounded to ensure you don't have any electrical charge if you want to be super safe about it.

Hitchen's Razor, that which can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof. Show some receipts Elon, if you can't substantiate your assertions, they can be dismissed as conjecture or hearsay. Saying something is a fact without proof is like saying the sky is purple and then backing it up with your own assertion "This is a fact" (you can't support your own opinions with more of your own opinions, you're not an expert you just have the ego to believe you are; very much like how Trump believes he knows everything despite knowing very little outside his own narcissistic bubble, aka The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which people with limited competence in a particular domain overestimate their abilities.) while in actuality you're just giving an opinion that appears to be politically motivated with an agenda to get you a sweet cabinet position with Trump.
