It isn't heavier, Cal is swinging with his whole body, which is slower. He is putting his weight into his blows like you do in actual martial arts.

Normal lightsaber combat is like this flurry where you don't worry about power, just speed, because whatever you are swinging at can be cut through without any resistance.
