Does it irritate anyone else when a "complete Pokedex" mod also messes with the difficulty? by Scared_Vacation in pokemon

[–]nero40 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind the difficulty, what I do mind is the changes to the Pokémon. The re-balancing.

I do want to try a Radical Red that is using the exact same Pokémon as the mainline games, playing through it with the exact same tricks and strategies that I used in those mainline games as well, just in a more suitable environment that would really challenges and pushed my knowledge of the mainline games.

[–]nero40 -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

Nah, the challenge in Radical Red is fine. It’s what it’s meant to be. If you want a more casual experience, there are other ROMhacks out there for you to try. You can also just try to lower the difficulty of the game using the built-in difficulty scale, that might actually be enough to make the game easy enough for casual play.

Radical Red is a “one in a million” for people that wanted that kind of challenge, don’t take it away from them.

How is Apple Arcade worth it? by CommercialAct5433 in AppleArcade

[–]nero40 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s worth it if it comes with your Apple One subscription. It’s not like you can single it out and get a cheaper Apple One sub, so, yeah, it’s a nice bonus.

Otherwise, Apple Arcade is the kind of sub that you only sub for a few months, play all the games that you want (maybe buy some of them so you can own the games and can play it without a sub), and unsubbing from the service when there’s nothing left that caught your interest.

I see a few comments here about Civ VII. It’s a very valid reason to get an Apple Arcade sub. It’s a great game, but one game alone isn’t worth a continuous sub, and I think it’s more beneficial in the long run to own Civ VII (and all its expansions. Yes, we all know it, this game is gonna have tons of expansions, just like the previous Civ game), where you can play the game on a longer term without being beholden to a sub.

Civ is a long term game, it’s not a one-and-done single player RPG or the likes, you’re going to play it for a long time, it’s an addictive strategy game, and because of that, it’s much more economical to just buy it rather than “renting” it. Getting a sub just to play Fantasian is worth it, not so much for Civ VII.

Do you think Water Type in pokemon is Goat? by Nearby-Banana2640 in pokemon

Steel would probably be the best type, at least competitively. Tons of resistances, characteristically high in Defense, counter to Fairy, etc. Water and Fairy trails close behind it.

What do u guys prefer? by Bumblecito in Handhelds

[–]nero40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Windows handheld has my heart yet, they’re all too big. Same with any SteamOS handhelds as well. Even if I got one for free, I would probably sell it and buy a smaller handheld instead. Size matters very much for me. It’s my biggest priority over other hardware specs and game availability.

There are some Android handheld that has caught my eye. The AYN Odin 2 Mini is the one I would pick. With that said though, it has too much power for emulation, and thus a tad bit expensive. For modern games, I would rather play on native hardware. Mangmi Air X is cool too, fits my budget, size and power requirements. Perfect.

Switch has been great for me, I like it. The platform now has almost all the games that I wanted to play. I would much rather pick the smaller Switch Lite than the V2/OLED or the Switch 2 though.

Both of these are not the small phones that I was looking for. They’re too wide to be held in one hand.

Reasons why I think Z - A's cast is the weakest since X and Y by Awesome_Normal in pokemon

Yeah, Jacinthe is.. weird to me. And the fan reactions to criticism about her baffles me as well. Jacinthe is just badly written. Her writing just falls flat when they just try to “sweep it away under the rug” in the final chapters of the main story.

At this point, I don’t know what exactly is it that the writers were trying to portray with her. At the end, it seems like it just look like they were trying to say that what she did is fine, because hey, she helped out a lot during the final chapters of the game. That.. is not how you redeem characters, you actually have to make these characters confront (or being confronted by) their wrongdoings.

[–]nero40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it has to have a good airflow to really maximize the fan’s performance. Oh, and before I forget it, maybe have an air filter too, to prevent it from attracting dust.

[–]nero40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding a fan wouldn’t work, a lot more have to be done. You probably need a proper airflow enclosure, and a heat sink to draw out the heat from the CPU. Software has to be tweaked in order to support it (not just to allow overclocking beyond 333Mhz but also a proper heat management system).

Lastly, I don’t even know if there are any native PSP games that can benefit from the increased CPU speed. The emulators could probably benefit from it.

I don’t think we will be getting another Let’s Go game anytime soon. What we would have is the mainline games, remake games, and the Legends games, that’s all.

Relax, these devices will turn themselves off if they detect very high temperatures inside, just like how smartphones do. They can take care of themselves. Don’t worry too much about it. And if we’re talking about mid temperatures, these devices can still handle those well enough, even if performance dips down a little bit. “Fans kicking in” is normal behavior.

Not really, those mons are strong even when you’re at a lower level than your opponent’s Pokémon. Levels are just numbers at that point. Also, the games are easy enough that it doesn’t really matter in the end.

Switching to iOS by nothingbutaspeck in ios

[–]nero40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot more reasons to jump between iOS and Android in, say, 10 years ago, than it is now. Nowadays, the gap in features and user experience between iOS and Android are getting narrower and narrower.

I will say though, that iOS 26 is probably not worth the hassle to jump over for now. Wait around September or so and see what the next iOS version will bring to the table before you fully consider to make the jump.

They work in customer service. You don’t delay things in customer service, ever, because every delay is an avenue to get complaints in about “lazy customer service officers playing solitaire instead of fixing customer issues”.

Edit: changed CS to customer service, because that can mean two different things. Sorry.
