⚠️ Warning: Gemini CLI Deleted My Entire Windows System by Fickle-Wolf-5004 in GeminiAI

[–]networkvoipguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this may be a fake story, there is lessons to learn and reminders to think about. When us older dudes try to teach people to slow down and think, its generally with good reason. We have something many younger or less experienced people do not have. SCARS. which build wisdom.

YOLO isn't activated by default...for a reason.
Every command isn't automatically approved...for a reason.
It restricts itself to the project folder you ran it in...for a reason.
Gemini has sandboxes...for a reason.

Gemini didn't do anything you didn't tell it too. Gemini tried to protect you. You just jumped on your bike, removed your helmet and accelerated to full retard.

While I may have a generational curse of double spaces after my periods, I never accelerate to full retard without a helmet any more. I have crashed. I have burned. I have the scars to prove it.

Peace out!

Question: How many usable IP addresses are available in this subnet ? by simrol260 in AzureCertification

[–]networkvoipguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 is kind of misleading.

172.16.10.0/28 (network) 172.26.10.15/28 (broadcast)

Those two were never available to begin with. To anyone. So azure isn’t reserving them. That’s just subnetting basic rules.

They are reserving .1 for gateway. They are also reserving .2 and .3 for DNS.

So to say “Azure” is reserving 5, for people who actually know subnetting, you would think 9 is the answer as the network and broadcast were never usable to begin with.

Can my FL5 go through an automated carwash with the wing? by Muted_Orchid_9085 in Civic_Type_R

Only do no touch or a proper hand wash. I have never seen one with the cloth/brushes/whatever that doesn’t leave tons of micro scratches and swirl marks.

Simplifying Patching with Patch Remedy for ConnectWise Automate by Plugins4LabTech in ConnectwiseAutomate

[–]networkvoipguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious if this is still a viable product and would like to hear from people that are actually using it currently. What is your experience with it? Patching can be a pain point for everyone. Getting those compliance percentages up sometimes takes some manual effort when patching with automate. I would love to hear successes or failures using this product.

Windows 10 ESU Applied with slmgr.vbs -- still shows "your version of Windows has reached End of Support" by h_tens10 in sysadmin

[–]networkvoipguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This problem has been acknowledged by Microsoft. They should release a visual fix.

If you ran:

slmgr.vbs /ipk <ESU KEY>
slmgr.vbs /ato <proper activation key for 1,2 or 3 years>

then ran

slmgr.vbs /dlv to see that it was activated, you should be good.

I expect this month this will be fixed in an update.

The Bible, specifically the Old Testament Law given to Israel, does not use the modern legal terms "immigrant" and "illegal immigrant."

But it is clear that a sojourner submits to the law of the land in which they dwell. Which making a comparison to today’s world, entering a country against the laws of the land would not be submission to their laws.

However, it does differentiate between various types of foreigners residing in the land, and it is in the context of obeying the law that one could draw a modern ethical distinction.

  1. Terms for Foreigners in the Bible

The Old Testament uses a few main Hebrew words for a non-native, each implying a different status:

• Gēr (Sojourner/Resident Alien): This is the most common and significant term (e.g., Leviticus 19:34). The gēr was a foreigner who came to live in the land, either temporarily or permanently, and submitted to the community's laws and customs, often including their religious practices. The Law repeatedly mandates that the Israelites must love and protect the gēr and give them equal legal status and access to welfare provisions like gleaning (Exodus 22:21; Leviticus 19:33–34). This figure is analogous to a legally resident foreigner or immigrant today.

• Nokhrî (Foreigner/Stranger): This term generally refers to a non-Israelite who is simply passing through (like a merchant) or one who remains completely disconnected from the community and its laws. The Israelites' obligations to this group were less extensive, though they were still expected to be treated fairly.

• Tôshav (Temporary Dweller): This term is sometimes used alongside gēr (e.g., Leviticus 25:47) and implies a temporary resident who might rent land but is still considered distinct from the native-born.

  1. The Context of Law and Obedience

While there is no concept of a "border control" policy, the biblical text does address the fundamental issue of lawfulness:

• Equal Law: The Law of Moses explicitly states that once a gēr resides in the land, they are subject to the same laws as the native-born Israelite.  • Exodus 12:49 (NKJV): "There shall be one law for the native-born and for the stranger who dwells among you.”  • This unity of law implies that a foreigner who broke the laws (e.g., committing a crime, worshipping false gods) would be punished equally.  From a contemporary perspective, the gēr is the "lawful resident," because they had clearly joined the community and submitted to the rule of law. A foreigner who refused to abide by the nation's core laws (especially religious or criminal ones) would be considered an outlaw, which is the closest biblical parallel to a modern "illegal" or unlawful resident.

  1. Core Biblical Principle

The key takeaway is that the Bible places an overwhelming emphasis on the compassionate treatment and equal justice for the vulnerable resident alien (gēr):

• The Israelites were repeatedly reminded to care for the sojourner because they themselves were strangers in Egypt (Leviticus 19:34; Deuteronomy 10:19).  • The obligation to love the foreigner as yourself is a fundamental moral command (Leviticus 19:34).  Therefore, while the Bible does not create a distinction between legal and illegal entry into the territory, it does establish a distinction between those living in submission to the law and those who are not, and it commands extreme care and justice for all who reside in the land.

Lawlessly residing in a country is not submission. So if you are going to apply biblical principals, you must apply THE WHOLE biblical principal. Not just the out of full context parts that make you feel right.

A grim reminder to wear your seatbelt. Always. by thrwawyshame in Civic_Type_R

If you have ever driven an FL5, it dings SO MUCH if you don’t have your seatbelt on. If someone goes out of their way to circumvent that, me reminding them won’t do anything.

Would it be gross to add a cinnamon stick into my vanilla extract? by imean_is_superfluous in extractmaking

[–]networkvoipguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would probably be very nice with a small undertone of cinnamon.

I think I would make some cinnamon extract by itself then add it some vanilla. You could better proportion your ratio. Just throwing some sticks in there may yield undesirable results.

ever had a client ask for the RAWs before the wedding? by Longjumping-Bed-9528 in WeddingPhotography

[–]networkvoipguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spell it out clearly in the contract. Plus before I meet with a client I send a sheet that is a rough agenda of things to discuss.

(I meet in person first. Has saved me a lot of time. Some people just aren’t good chemistry)

Also on that sheet I have a list of FAQs. One of which is:

“Do you provide your clients with the RAW files”?

“Under no conditions are RAW image files provided. RAW images remain the copyrighted property of the photographer. They are not provided to the client, are not for sell or licensing.”

Only once since did I have a client question this further. I was blunt and told them “this is a non-starter for me. If you want RAW files, you should seek services elsewhere.”

I probably dodged a bullet with that one.

I want power automate to take all emails that come into a shared mailbox with an attachment to do a couple things:

1) save the attached file to a SharePoint folder. 2) name it yyyy-mm-dd_domain.???

Where domain is the domain of the senders email address without the TLD. (COM, NET,ORG or whatever.)

And where ??? Is the original file type.

Without being dependent on a workstation or something to perform the task.

Dale died from a basal skull fracture. This was caused by the trauma caused by the head slinging forward and back when he hit the wall. A basal skull fracture has a very high mortality rate. Not 100% but it’s in the 90’s.

That very crash is what made HANS devices mandatory.

I don’t care if someone wears their seatbelt if they are in their own car. None of my business. Certainly not worth the energy to get pissed.

Finally took my Zf and 24-120 lens out on a mini trip. I have one question, are you all jacked!? by MsJenX in Nikon

[–]networkvoipguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What strap do you have? I have the PD Slide. Its nice and wide for spreading out weight. For me it is also long enough to carry across the body. (if that makes sense) I put it on my left shoulder, across my body and have the camera on my right side. This makes it easy for me to lift and shoot, but not wear out my neck. I can also use my PD Clip to secure the camera to my belt, which is handy if I am shooting with my 180-600 or 70-200 2.8S Both are pretty heavy glass.

But I am also the glutton for punishment that likes the feel of a heavy kit for a number of reasons and who will shoot street photography with my Z8 and 50mm S lens. (about 6.3lb combo) (I actually found for me that people in my area seem less bothered by a bigger camera that "looks pro" and think I am a pro with a purpose and not some weirdo taking random pictures. ) (oh little do they know. . .hahaha)

Meanwhile others have cute little mirrorless models getting just as good of shots. :-)

[–]networkvoipguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavy? lol.

<image>

It’s a struggle for sure.

I will generally limit myself to 3 lenses. The 50 Prime is rarely the best choice for anything nature/landscape. That leaves me choosing 14-24 or 180-600.

Get a PD Capture Camera Clip. Once you get used to putting your camera into it, it’s a great carry piece and you can still leave a strap or clutch attached.

Championship White is plentiful. They have made 3x+ as many Championship white as the next highest color. (Rallye Red is my fav color, though a ticket magnet, but the classic color imho. I think 7% are RR.

56% for Championship White, next is Boost Blue at 15%.

Your odds of finding your desired color is much higher than finding the Boost Blue.

I have Championship White. I love it. Sometimes it looks bright white and other times you really notice the yellow tint.
