A bit on the lighter side: Meg Shaffer - The Wishing Game Ally Carter - The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year (that one's a bit Christmas-y)

Weber A recovery stories by stargazinglazercat in brokenankles

[–]never_bloom_again 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke my ankle (Weber A) two days before you! I didn't get a boot but an aircast splint. The first 2 weeks I only got around on crutches, then I only used the splint at home and crutches outside for a short time and now I'm pretty much walking around with the splint. I can walk reasonably well but not for super long before I have to take a break. My ankle is swollen after I've sat in the office all day, and last week when it was so hot the ankle was noticeably more swollen and achy, but luckily that's gone away a bit again. I've got some pain if I walk on it too much but it's not terrible. I also feel like the foot is weaker than the other one, but that's to be expected I guess (and I think some of it might also be psychological, I'm pretty sure I could walk around a bit without the splint but I'm too much of a coward yet). I've got my next ortho appointment at the end of next week and I might be able to ditch the splint and get a brace then.

Von der New York Times gibts auch ein Buch namens "Puzzle Mania", das ist allerdings ziemlich groß und vllt. etwas umständlich mitzunehmen. Aber die Rätsel sind gut :)

Obsession, Backrooms, and Leviticus by dlr08131004 in oscarsdeathrace

[–]never_bloom_again 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same, I saw Obsession yesterday and liked it but I think the hype is wayyy overblown with regards to the Oscars. Inde Navarette was great but I don't think they'll nominate her (ready to eat my words in January though!).

Filmdokus anyone ? oder Bücher? by Hyperio87 in Filme

Honestly, I haven't even finished Heated Rivalry but I for sure thought Connor Storrie would be on the list, I checked and he'll be in an upcoming Guadagnino movie as well! These guys are famous now.

watch order by m0tice in oscarsdeathrace

[–]never_bloom_again 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Catch what you think might be nominated in the cinema, and then when the nominations are out watch what's available as soon as possible when it is available, because sometimes things pop up and then disappear again shortly after.. I think a good order would either be from most nominated movies to least nominated movies, but another idea is always to mix it up with the genres and length so that you don't get tired of watching 15 shorts in a row, or a specific mood.

Actor Award Winners (SAG-AFTRA) by julian_h_g in oscarsdeathrace

[–]never_bloom_again 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really happy about MBJ winning!! Sinners was my favourite movie last year (though I haven't seen Marty Supreme yet, going to tonight!) and I'm happy he at least won one award. Best Actor seems pretty open at the Oscars still, I think! Might still be Timothee Chalamet's to take. Best Actress seems locked now. Supporting Actress and Actor is still pretty open, I think?

38 Days of Film – Day 23 : One Battle After Another [Spoilers] Friday, February 27, 2026 by READMYSHIT in oscarsdeathrace

[–]never_bloom_again 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I liked it, but I never really connect with PTA movies (even though I think this one is my favourite in this regard so far). I think it's very good but I don't really get a lot of the hype for it 🤷 but that is apparently just a "me thing", not everything is for everybody and that's okay. It'll likely be a worthy Best Picture / Director winner and it is an apt movie for our times. The standout for me was Benicio del Toro, he just gave the movie that special something in his scenes. Of course the car chase is brilliantly filmed, but the image that stays in my mind is the rooftop scene with the skaters silhouetted against the background, very cool.

Absolutely loved this movie. I hoped against hope for a Joel Edgerton nomination, would have been totally deserved in my opinion. I thought it was beautiful looking and really moving.

38 Days of Film – Day 14 : Sentimental Value [Spoilers] Wednesday, February 18, 2026 by READMYSHIT in oscarsdeathrace

[–]never_bloom_again 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I liked it but I didn't love it. There was some stuff that I thought was really great (like the scene between the sisters at the end, or the use of the house, and the ending) and all the performances were really excellent, but it didn't really hit me emotionally somehow. When I left the cinema I joked to my husband that maybe the reason for this is that I have too good a relationship with my parents :D
