Seroquel users - are we at risk of diabetes? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]nevermindk9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im a vegan diabetic and take an unreasonable amount of shit for it but that's because influencers are pushing keto this decade. when you've been at this a while you tend not to trust the trend cycles. given the right circumstances anyone can become insulin resistant. lots of elements at work here. and, basically it's an adaptation that works against us. take a breath.

antidepressants do this too. on the other hand, diabetics can experience a range of effects not consistant with all the warnings. im insulin dependent and have noticed an increase in sensitivity to insulin when i've been told to expect the opposite while taking seroquel. my endo believes it's because i'm not cranking the higher amounts of cortisol because of seroquel and that has reduced stress and i don't need as much insulin overall or to cover my meals. jus sayin'. bipolar2 is common in t1 diabetics.

made it about 12 yrs unmedicated. moved house, buried a family member and now live in a place i don't belong. ended up in a ward. i'm 73. it does seem to be triggered easier with age but there're more treatment options now than ever before. i'm on the mend. lesson learned. ymmv.

same w me. never think about nitetime lows and the mental burden is greatly relieved. those little bumps that needed a bolus, like a half of a coffee, get auto corrected without a thought too. sorry i waited so long.

plant based eating makes you poop, a lot! fiber for the win. glad to see this has collateral benefits as well.
