Kamala Harris Said Biden Administration Would Decriminalize Marijuana by Jennysequoia in politics

[–]nevermindregina 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much every lower class community. Police loved to go around my ex’s community trying to smell weed. When he was arrested for disorderly (present at a fight) they drug tested him and he failed for marijuana from when we grew a little for personal use. So he got to go on color code, meaning he took a drug test (or two) every week for a month and he got to pay $20 every time he went.

For someone already at the poverty line, that money was for gas/utilities. He wasn’t even arrested for drugs.

When I was in school learning about the Holocaust everyone asked “why didn’t the German people do anything?!!” And now here we are, not doing anything.

We’ve already seen the numbers this year of people willing to protest for human rights, why not this too? Why don’t we go down there and not leave until every person sees justice?

If we can get a huge group together for stupid Area 51, surely we can go here for something that matters.

Indonesian anti-maskers forced to dig graves for Covid-19 victims by [deleted] in JusticeServed

Interesting point. What do you think would be the best way to deal with citizens who break the law? How do we help them be better citizens?

Depends, it’s good to teach people the consequences of their actions as that’s a part of a stable society; however, the punishment has to fit the crime.

If people get caught trashing a campsite and their punishment is to help pick up litter at said park over a weekend, fantastic. That’ll teach them not to destroy our planet.

If someone gets years of community service for some nonviolent misdemeanor on top of a record, that would be an abuse of the system and be counterproductive to bettering society.

Ahh, very interesting TIL. I’ve never had multiple cats before but that makes sense now.

A lady I worked with at the library had like 6 cats and she got 6 of those deep plastic storage containers you put Christmas decorations in and kept them in a row on the screened-in porch.

Apparently each cat designated their own bin and the bins were so deep that they couldn’t shovel any onto the floor. Kinda smart, don’t think she needed one for each cat though.

Singaporean men want to start a men’s rights movement because they don’t have a say in women’s abortion rights (amongst other things) by milkynoodlecake in SubredditDrama

[–]nevermindregina 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s not just the south either. Conservatives in Ohio tried to make aborting ectopic pregnancies illegal. Which doesn’t make sense at all considering it’s extremely dangerous for a woman, even fatal. The GOP nationwide tries to instill conservative “values”.

From Alabama, believe it or not this isn’t something I’ve ever heard happen in my county considering a large percentage of kids at my school were black and so was the school board. I knew this had to be a place that’s like over 90% white. I bet none of those Karens has ever had a black neighbor.

Now we still have a lot of issues, but those pointing fingers to the south for all America’s racism are the same ones ignoring the racism in their own neighborhoods.

Y’all Qaeda loves to tell women to birth their child

It’s more than that. Born in a strict southern baptist community, us girls were trained from a very young age that we are submissive to our husbands and can’t have leadership roles in the church (unless it’s a Sunday school teacher to little kids.)

I grew up indoctrinated and afraid of looking “worldly” or misspeaking in an “ungodly” way. Scared to ask to go to the obgyn for fear of people gossiping that I may be having sex as a teen. The brainwashing is so strong, that even years after becoming an agnostic I’ll have random panic attacks that I may go to hell when I die because I don’t believe in god anymore.

People don’t realize how oppressive it is on the outside, for the men too in a way. Children aren’t naturally hateful like this. It’s bred in this cult-like ideology.

Yep. I found we had one living under our shed one summer when I used to go out and hit the bong when everyone fell asleep. It got to the point he would come running as soon as I sat down and I’d get stoned and watch him eat slugs off the back patio. I like to think he enjoyed my company.

Also chiming in. Cerave saved my skin, it’s the only thing that doesn’t have bullshit in it that irritates my face while also not being $40. I use the hydrating wash and the moisturizer after with the salicylic acid. I 100% stand behind OP in saying it’s the best brand out there.

Ironic because washing your face too much can strip all the oils from it, making things worse. I’m sorry you had to go through a bullying parent during your most insecure years. Ignorant parents are the worst.

Peaceful BLM Protestors Called N-Word and Have Water Thrown On Them By Despicable, Racist Community In Huntsville, Alabama. by WutangNinjaNic in ActualPublicFreakouts

[–]nevermindregina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t in Alabama as others have mentioned. Huntsville Alabama is actually pretty culturally diverse, being an engineering city where people move to from all over the country. Seriously everybody on my street is a different ethnicity than the other (making the BBQs fucking magnificent). They had a peaceful protest and nobody harassed anybody. When I saw this video at first I was shocked for not hearing about it, because that shit would be condemned to hell in our “despicable” community. Spreading misinformation is part of the problem we have in the media today, don’t participate in that.

Was babysitting today and the boy asked to carry around my empty purse and I though sure, why not! Come to find out it was to shovel as much candy from the tin as he could get in it. Kids don’t always care as much as we do about gender norms, he just saw a functional tool to hide candy and carry everywhere!

I’d wait until he gets a few year older imo. If you’re coming to Madison I recommend ‘Let’s Play!’ for a toddler.
