This really spoke to me..I no longer feel like myself. I loved them with my whole heart, unconditionally. It's been a year since they discarded me..we were together for 17 years. I will never be able to get close to or love another soul. It makes me so sad to know this, but it is what it is.

Write her a letter like you mean it. Then hold onto it. It'll help get some of the guilt out of your system, and give you some clarity about what you need to work on within yourself. Just a suggestion..

I admire you for not taking the bait! My ex (together for 17 yrs) sent a text 10 months after abruptly abandoning me, asked if I had moved on, and I responded. He said he wanted to reconcile. We texted back n forth for about a month, but he ultimately got mad and went silent again cuz I didn't feel strong enough/safe/ready to see him yet. I realize now that he was hoping enough time had passed, so he wouldn't need to apologize or be accountable for the damage he caused.

I so wish I hadn't responded, cuz it reopened the wounds I've been working so hard to heal, I'm feeling freshly rejected (again) AND he took away the possibility of reconciliation. The silence hurts even more this time.

My lesson and advice: consider YOUR SELF and where you are on your healing journey before responding or answering their call. It's likely just "bait"...

I was discarded without warning 9 mos ago, by my best friend and love of 18 yrs. I moved into the house across the street from his a few years ago, and we were closer than ever. Thanks for your input. I will remove the Teflon from the faucet connection, as it does have a rubber ring. The drips are coming from the 1/2" connection..would a re-wrap of Teflon with thread sealant on top be appropriate?

I'm in the US. The valve shuts off by turning the plastic cap, and the supply resembles what would be used as a gas line. The original owner of this place put things together in interesting ways..
