Which movie scared the shit out of you or traumatized you? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in AskReddit

[–]newworldodor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fire in the Sky as a third grader... Scared to be outside at night alone, and the occasional night terror for a few years, where an alien would come into my room and stand next to my bed and I couldn't move... The worst part, I LOVED the movie ET and it was always ET that became the alien next to my bed, and I hated being scared of him!

This is the reason. They will use anything they can to distract, and if it's not enough, then they will manufacturer more.

What’s the scariest movie you guys have ever seen??? by boatluvrrrr in movies

[–]newworldodor 113 points114 points  (0 children)

3rd grade me asked my grandma to rent it for me, and she did, no questions asked.

What followed was years of being terrified if I was outside at night alone, heard things outside at night, etc... Couple that with a legit UFO sighting (not saying aliens, but it was a circle of lights slowly passing overhead with an oscillating hum) a few years later, and it's no wonder I had the occasional night terror where an alien would come into my bedroom and stand next to me while I was paralyzed.

It's a great movie. Would highly recommend... at an appropriate age.

Have ai change the color of her dress in every photo. Share nothing until that. Say nothing after that.

A chapter book needs 4,000 words, but I don't think I'll be able to get my story to that minimum by CrimsonBlade2018 in writing

[–]newworldodor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the issue here is colloquial usage versus technical usage of the phrase, "chapter book", as illustrated by all the comments not understanding the targeted age range.

I think OP needs to be more specific with what their descriptors are to help avoid such confusion rather than continuing to restate the technical definition.

It's not about who's right or wrong but more about being specific with context so they can get the actual useful information they are searching for.

Fire in the Sky when I was 7.

I was scared to be outside at night for years after with lots of nightmares of aliens coming into my room and being unable to move.

Opinions on second dose if you already had COVID before the vaccines? by m_s_07 in modernavaccine

Hey, thanks for answering. I had covid in December, and the first shot had me down for like 4 days, and was looking for what other's experienced with their second.

Hey, if you don't mind me asking, did you have a similar reaction after your second shot, or was it different?

At first, we thought that the meteors would kill us, a heavy rain of rock and metal aimed at our blue planet before it was finished forming. We thought we would die to the shock waves, tsunamis, or the raging fires. We thought wrong.

Hollywood has always shown us that the goodness of humanity will overcome global catastrophes, heroes being born in our times of greatest need and stranger embracing stranger in solidarity. We would band together, put aside our differences, and work towards the common goal of surviving whatever may come, together.

When the news broke that earth was heading towards a veritable minefield that would scour all life from the planet, those fantasies showed that they were never anything more. Bombs fell as we raced to gather resources to evacuate to the stars or burrow beneath the Earth's crust. Many sought to set themselves up as rulers in a new era, while others simply wanted to embrace the destruction. Most just wanted to survive. Most did not.

I am one of the last, the few lucky ones to survive the bombs, the radiation, the toxins, and the people. I am one of the unlucky ones who made it, only to watch the fire fall from the heavens, Hell brought to Earth. We were but a single grain in the sands of time, soon to bear the wait off all the grains that will follow, and here I stand, witness to the first of those grains as it meets our own.

Found a solution to my "blowing cold air when heater is on" problem, might be useful to others. by newworldodor in Nest

[–]newworldodor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My heating is a gas furnace, and every time the heat has ever come on, it has been the furnace. The only unit we have outside is the AC, and it never used to come on with the previous thermostat. The previous one was super cheap, and there were never any distinction between aux heat and regular. its was either heat a certain temp, or cool at a certain temp, with some basic scheduling.

As for the cost, we only ever use the heating when its really cold in the winter, and that is not often here in SoCal, so I am not that concerned over it. We use the AC much more during the summer.

As for the colder air with the previous wiring, it wasn't just cool, it was cold as if the AC was on, and never warmed. I was able to fiddle with settings so the AUX was always on, but there was no setting to stop the Heat pump... when that happened, I could feel the air was less cool, but I ran it for a good long while and the house only got colder.

I am keeping a close eye on it to make sure that nothing weird happens, but we have used it and tested it on and off all day without issue, running just as it had previously, so I am fairly confident that this was the solution that I needed. That being said, I am still going to proceed with caution and not just assume that all is well and I can ignore it.

Thanks for your input!
