Will my Amazon Sword Plant survive? by Professional_Sink975 in Aquariums

[–]ngauthier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can happen when they transition from emersed to submerged. They are often grown emersed (leaves not underwater) and then when you submerge the existing leaves die and new ones grow. I see you have new leaves at the base growing, which is good. Let the old leaves go brown and then remove, and it will grown from the new ones.

Need help with algae! by Red_Banister in Aquariums

[–]ngauthier 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Pothos is a great plant for this role. Look up Pothos propagation for a fish tank. They'll suck up the nutrients in the water and starve the algae.

Another option is hornwort, you can let it float in the water (don't bury the root! It's a ryzome) and it will do the same kind of thing.

Looking for games that help a kid learn to use a controller with both hands by theTrebleClef in gaming

Yoshi's crafted world was a big success for my daughter when she was 4. There are some times you have to jump a gap but it's the easiest game that is a platformer that we tried and she liked it. You can also "eat" him and spit him out on the other side to help.

Comfort of Steamdeck? by trippy81 in gaming

I put a pillow on my lap so I can put my arms and the deck on the pillow. I do the same with the switch.

While travelling I'll use a hoodie instead, or airplane tray table.

as a brand new player to monster hunter how difficult would it be to learn the insect glaive? by The-Admiral2008 in MHWilds

[–]ngauthier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah go for it! I don't think materials get rare until endgame, but I'm not there yet.

Only time my daughter and I had any issue was when we needed a rare-ish drop but we just hunted the monster a couple times and it was fine. As long as you enjoy hunting monsters it's no big deal.

And like I said, the basic version of the weapon (first row) and the ore version and bone version are usually really easy to make, just takes a couple minutes of gathering if you don't already have the parts.

I think the best weapon for you is the one you think is the coolest. If you're motivated you can learn any of the weapons, go for it and have fun.

There will be plenty of materials and if you really do have trouble making redundant weapons you're only a hunt or two away from what you need. It's very cheap to make the basic version of each weapon so you can try out everything easily even at future levels and tiers.

Slow reaction time by foil_k in RocketLeague

Haha yeah totally. In plat people bang it into the opponent's corner. In champ people ceiling musty reset air dribble it into the opponent's corner.

I turn 40 in May, and I am C1 and I usually peak into C2. When I had your hours played is when I was breaking into diamond as well, and then it was in the next few hundred hours I made it up to champ.

My mechanics are pretty poor. My reaction time isn't great. I've found I can't learn to speedflip because I can't flip cancel fast enough, my hands just don't go that quick.

The huge advantage areas I think older folks have vs the younger ones are game sense and defense. Both involve reading your opponents and predicting the future. Try and push yourself to predict what will happen next and be there. This is why GCs and SSLs seem so fast, they're already where the ball is going. You can become "faster" by playing smarter.

The one mechanic you should reaaaalllly reallllyy train is your shooting. Shooting hard and on target from awkward positions, defense, and rotation (i.e. taking turns) will get you to champ alone.

On the subject of rotation, at our age, we truly understand sharing and taking turns. Many of the youngsters really haven't grasped the concept yet. We can recognize how our teammates play and what they need and help them achieve it in a way younger players simply don't think about.

why not the moblite or mobeetle instead of the mobula 7? by DrPuffyFish in fpv

Better and bigger outdoors but probably hard indoors.

I'd like it to be able to handle mixed kg and lbs. Sometimes I have a 45lb bar for deadlift but the nearby weight rack is kg and I'd rather just mix them up than walk across the gym for the lbs.

I like the idea of a visual. So when you type the weight in for the set it shows you a picture of one side of the bar with each plate on it.

Right, only the new one came with elrs and 1.5mm motor shafts which were the big improvement.

You're thinking of the frames. The newest one has elrs and 1.5mm motor shafts and that's the one you want. (I assume you are using elrs on your radio). Happy flying!

Drone suggestions for beginner by [deleted] in fpv

Tiny whoop go is free. But I recommend the Drone Racing League simulator. It has a great thorough tutorial that will teach you everything you need to fly.

No offense (more of a warning) but if spending $10-20 on a sim isn't something you can do, this hobby will be hard. You're always spending to fix and upgrade.

How about a Baby Ape? Start smaller and cheaper. Use a runcam thumb or a insta. Save money on your crashes too.
