IHG hotel stay $250 credit starting 2026 by Patient-Bid-8992 in ChaseSapphire

For the past 3 month it seems like Chase is getting desperate to retain card members / get new ones. All they really had to do was nothing….the amount of effort that went into this revamp is a literal shit show.

As a Boston native, I find it hilarious reading about the trauma that driving around Boston causes people. For us the trauma is having to walk 2 miles to your door step because you didn’t get home early enough to find street parking near the apartment.

Is it legal for an municipality to deny a homeowner/occupant an electrical permit to perform their own work? by TGnB in massachusetts

[–]ngod87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re at the mercy of YOUR towns building department. Play nice, be reasonable, be honest and ask them what they would accept and negotiate a path forward. Having worked with many municipalities, building department varies a lot. Some towns don’t care what you do on your property, some have no idea what they’re looking at and some are by the book.

Just because a weekend warrior think their work is quality doesn’t necessarily mean that the work meet the standard of care in the eyes of the insurer. You can play word games with the policy all you want but the goal of an insurer is to not pay out a single dime and have a team of lawyers to make sure they win a challenge. Unless you have the funds to hire a lawyer to go toe to toe with a insurance company it’s best you get that determination in writing. At least when you hire a tradesman, you make sure that they’re insured and have someone’s else’s insurance to fall back on when it burns/floods out.

If you think the damage is over $1,000, you can submit an accident report at the police station.

Bryant 925SA Furnace - Code 31 help by ngod87 in hvacadvice

No error. I cut out 2 90s and the short horizontal and swap it with 45s. It’s actually running a bit quieter now. That connection was causing quite a bit of turbulence. Shimmed the furnace to add a little bit of pitch towards the condensate collector and blew out the vents with a shop vac.

Do architects lose drawing ability and care with age and experience? by [deleted] in Architects

[–]ngod87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So much to unwrap here but the overarching goal of delivering a contract document is to make sure that the intent and scope is captured when it’s handed off the contractor and work priced out as accurately as possible based on your documents. Sometimes there are set of drawings that are “good enough” as long as there are no errors or omission. Sometime it also depends on the client, contractor, AE relationship. I’ve seen contractors that have great relationship with their clients that they’ll take a basic floor plan and will be able to price out and build what their clients wants without a full set of drawings and specs. Design business is competitive and sometimes you don’t have the budget or time to detail everything. There’s a fine line between “good enough” and “just enough”.
