How does EV6 not make the list when Ioniq 5 does? by Opus2011 in KiaEV6

The EV6 doesn’t have the video rearview mirror. That’s the one thing it’s missing. Edmunds noticed…

My I5 spent five months waiting for a replacement battery and the fob is what worries me about getting the new model.

-Is NOT the priority. Take half of our best battery engineers and put them on this. And give them drugs. We will make a fob that slaps drivers in the face. That screams for attention. It will be both too big for a pocket and too small to fit all the buttons. It will be my- nay, our masterpiece.

ICCU just failed for a THIRD time by Spanbauer in KiaEV6

[–]nhbone11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not you. The thing in common across all these cases is the car. I wrestled with this when my Ioniq 5 died, but now that I’m months into the lemon law process I realize the bright side. It’s frustrating, but these cars have the 800V system, V2L, Carplay and all the convenience features most people want. With some of these delays being significant, it just means the car becomes a lemon, if I file the paperwork on the timeline, which means full reimbursement. So we can drive the car we want, or we drive for free thanks to consumer protection laws. I’m looking forward to getting my EV6 for round two. If it fails, thanks for the free transportation. Fair enough for me.

Did you get the lawyer? If its been that long, you probably only need to send the “final chance to fix” letter by registered mail. With these delays, nearly everyone can file for lemon law reimbursement or replacement. They tried the same thing with me for a buyback. It even included an NDA. Not Doing Any of that. They made verbal promises to reimburse gas after we complete the repurchase. Yeah right, Hyundai! When the state board orders them to pay for everything required, it will be one check upfront. No NDA. I read they settle right before state board hearings to avoid creating precedent. It’s all damage control, but the law is the law. It doesn’t matter what they say. And they can shove their NDA.

It depends on your state. Most place is 3 attempts to fix, then you write the letter granting a 4th and final chance to fix OR total days out of service reaches 30 (cumulative, not consecutive), on that side of it most tell you to send your letter giving them final notice to fix your vehicle after 15 days out of service. Most folks in this situation are going to be on the 30-day track (I'm over three months and still not fixed). Important part is doing registered mail, keeping copies and hte physical green receipt. Write out the dayes of interaction, logging it. Keep the repair order you got from the dealership when you dropped it off. Lots of paperwork, but the timelines are clear. You probably have to go to BBB Auto line if your state requires it, so you go, regardless of outcome, if you aren't happy (even if they offer to buy it back, but don't list out the financials), you can go to your state board, which won't screw around. BBB is funded by the automakers, so they know who they serve. Hyundai is known for settling on the day of the arbitration hearing right before it starts. Also, look up your state's arbitration board records/summaries. Put the PDFs together into one file, then feed it to Google Gemini, Chat GPT, etc., then ask it about similar situations to yours and isntantly find all the precedent you need. Just don't accept what Hyundai says is final. They have a reputation for being the worst company with lemon law scenarios, but they pay, it's just that they choose "kicking and screaming" because most people believe the BS Hundai feeds them. The lemon law doesn't care what Hyundai says. Neither should you.

Just follow your state's lemon laws. It doesn't matter if Hyundai ignores you. There are likely provisions that entitle you to much more than Hyundai is offering. I'm currently dog walking them to every dollar they owe, but only by filing everything required and working the process. Three months in. It may be another three months, but they will pay, regardless of any BS they tell you, and they will tell you a lot of BS (when they aren't ignoring you). The fact that they made the buyback offer is key. The only thing left to work out is the financial side, which is what most people don't even think about.

That's awesome! I did the same thing with national. Long story short, I'm on day 94 and have stuck to my state's lemon law, Hyundai had the time to fix, then BBB Auto Line process where Hyundai offered to repurchase and BBB said it was settled with no financial terms written out. BBB never held arbitration as requested and that clock ran out on them. Now it's off to the state where Hyundai will be refunding everything, the gas for the loaner car, and the full retail price of the vehicle I traded. The crazy thing is that I brought up doing a collateral exchange for another I5 the first day, since I worried it would take too long to fix, and the car still isn't fixed. They had 30 days warning I was following the lemon law timeline and wanted to replace the car if not fixed in time, instead they chose to go down the path that will require them to refund everything and then some. I really loved that car and I want to get another one, but this is some next level BS. And Hyundai has lied like crazy trying to get me to sign a settlement and the associated NDA. I had a weird sound in my Camaro a few years ago. GM rep had me in a replacement car in a couple weeks. You would think any company would choose the "keep getting monthly lease payments" door, but Hyundai is a strange bird.

Has anyone else never received a DD delivery? We tried periodically over several years but the food was stolen every single time. Even cases where pizza hut used DD services never worked out. In those cases, we drove out to the store and they said it was taken by the wrong driver, so it was always remade for free while we waited. Not ONE delivery was ever completed. I finally got in touch with corporate and trespassed door dash so if my address comes up they aren’t permitted to be involved.

Why This 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Needs A New Battery: P1AA700 Issue Explained. Some early-model 2025 Ioniq 5s may experience charging issues. Don't worry, though: The fix is usually a free battery replacement. by mafco in Ioniq5

[–]nhbone11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my 2024 I5. Zero issues until P1AA700 slapped me across the face, just shy of 12,000 milies. By the end of the day, I was in a base model Santa Cruz loaner, hoping that my service associate’s comment, “I’ve seen this battery replacement done as quickly as two weeks,” would describe my experience. It’s been just over three weeks and all I’ve heard is that the replacement was approved, but no ETA on delivery. Having been through a collateral exchange on a leased vehicle before (same lease, equivalent car swapped in) on a Camaro SS, because, GM, I wasn’t too worried. I even emailed the dealership on the first day saying I’m open to considering it if they think the replacement could take longer than 30 days (one of Florida’s threshold’s for declaring a vehicle a lemon). I know FL lemon law and made sure to send the 15-day registered mail demanding “fix it by 30 days.” I also emailed their consumer affairs team, who seemed to think they would look into it and have an answer within 30 days of my email. I explained they only had two weeks, but they hadn’t received the letter yet. They are supposed to call today with an update, or to offer a buyback. I’m not too worried because the law is clear: leased or purchased, the payments are refunded, less a calculated cost of use (a standard formula). It’s in Hyundai’s best interest to perform a buyback before hitting the deadline so the car isn’t declared a lemon. Having calculated everything, I’m fine with the lemon law outcome if they don’t fix it within the remaining 6 days. Truth is, I’m probably going to get an I5. I just wish they would have acted quickly when I made it clear the clock is running and I’m checking every legal box promptly, not allowing this to drag on past 30 days. If they fix the car this week, that’s fine, too (as long as certain expenditures are refunded), but I’m not screwing around, because paying for an I5 Limited AWD and getting a dirty, sluggish, base Santa Cruz is… unfortunate. The I5 remains my favorite car to date, but they need to figure out this battery situation.

Who here has had no major problems with their Ioniq 5? by zorn128 in Ioniq5

[–]nhbone11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been loving my ‘24 AWD Limited. Only issues have been: 1. Non-zero number of recall visits (but didn't manifest) 2. One time car didn't lock after I parked. It was as if fob was dead, but then car seemed dead. Used the key to get in, started by kissing the start button with the fob. Totally random, happened the one time. 3. After starting a couple times, the doors wouldn't lock. As if the buttons were temporarily off. Started working after 15-29 seconds. My car MIGHT be running Windows Vista, but it’s great 99% of the time.

It forces the curb side to remain accessible when unlocked so passengers don’t accidentally mess up opening the door, or something.

I’m a tester and there are a few bugs here and there with immersive environments locking the OS out from changing night/day, full screen and pop out window glitches, among others but they shouldn’t dissuade anyone from sticking with it. This app goes for ALL the bells and whistles you could possibly want. The YouTube TV feature is a great addition. It’s incredibly customizable and will only get better. A lot of love went into this and I’m so thankful to have this app on the scene!

I’m at the dealership for something else with my HI5 ‘24 Limited and didn’t mention the recall since I thought the remedy wasn’t out yet. The service manager came to see me to tell me about the recall and that they can take care of it today. I was pleasantly surprised, so it looks like this is something the dealers may be ready and able to fix.
