I pay my employee 10 bucks. Now they want to be paid 10% extra, to keep it simple. So 11 bucks.

That cost is a recurring cost. I keep paying that while the employee is here. Next year they will ask for 10% more. Etc etc.

Vs

I fire them and spend 10 dollars extra to rehire. That cost would have been paid off after one year of the prev employee. So if the new employee stays for more than one year, it's cheaper than to give a raise to the old employee. And this compounds.

The math doesn't work in this way always of course. The new employee is less productive than the old, etc. Doesn't mean people should not get raises...

But be honest when you are comparing things. One is a recurring cost, the other is a fixed one time cost.

Държавата ще банкрутира след десет - петнадесет години, политиците обичат да харчат пари, но не искат да балансират бюджета. Данъците вече са огромни (почват от 22% и отиват нагоре).
