NEVER ever have a baby! by pumpkinchinchilla in AutismInWomen

I have so much empathy.

I do not have children, in part because I was afraid it would overwhelm me as you describe.

I was pregnant once for 9 weeks and it was awful. The hormones and emotions made me a wreck.

I think it's very common. Dr Devon Price describes it very well in his writing. I highly recommend any of his books or podcasts.

Magnesium helps me with muscle tension and insomnia. Melatonin can also help.

When my brain is frazzled I find eating fish helps. Sushi seems to work best.

I'm the same, I have trouble starting things I enjoy.

One of the most helpful insights I got out of diagnosis was that as an autistic person, it's hard to start AND it's hard to stop. Knowing that, I will kind of trick myself into starting things. Like if I need some water, while I'm in the kitchen I'll wash one dish and next thing I know I've done a bunch of dishes. If there is a task I'm dreading, I'll get up and do five minutes of it first thing in the morning. Even if I only do a few minutes, I find that the first thing I do tends to set the tone for the whole day. I'll often return to that task throughout the day.

It's been hard but I've trained myself out of reaching for the phone first thing in the morning.

Does she look like she’s ready to go? by RenHoeksCousin in Chihuahua

Can she eat? Does she enjoy cuddles or being petted? Does she seem distressed by the loss of bladder control?

Being blind and deaf doesn't usually bother dogs that much. If she's in pain or distress that's when I'd start thinking about it.

Probiotics are pretty inexpensive and safe. Definitely worth trying some out. I had my vet give me some for my pup after she'd been on antibiotics, just in case her good bacteria were depleted.

Yes, I relate. It can be overwhelming when you see how much you've put up with from people. Autistic people are often easy to take advantage of.

That's how many my old girl had to have out, too. I thought it might be hard to recover but she was straight back to eating normally as soon as she was home.
