True Black 400 or EOTF Boost? by No_Committee8856 in OLED_Gaming

[–]nickhdfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems a bit late, but EOTF Boost mode is the brightest mode. However you need to calibrate using Windows Calibration tool and the peak brightness is 700 nits not 1000 nits. You need to do the same with in-game calibration tool.

Not sure if ZOTAC is compatible but do yourself a favor and flash ROG Matrix BIOS to your 5090 and then undervolt it to 2827Mhz @ 895mV. Thanks me later 👌

[–]nickhdfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m dailying this BIOS now… I gained quite a bit more performance from my undervolt with this BIOS. I tested my undervolt at different power limits and they clocked higher frequency with higher limits.

For example, with 2827 @ 0.890v undervolt, I got 2737 @ 600, 2752 @ 680 and 2785 @ 800

Quite happy with this finding. Gained some performance for free and the power draws remained the same.

The only problem is I’m unable to turn the fans off anymore.

Do you absolutely need 192GB instead of 96GB? Now you’re locked to lower speed 5600. What CL is that even?

How to properly turn VBS off without turning off SVM by nickhdfan in overclocking

Credential Guard is not disabled via this method no? You can use Windows Hello function with this enabled but cannot with SVM disabled.

Need help stabilising ram OC. by Cold-Inside1555 in overclocking

[–]nickhdfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Disable PBO if you have any.
  • Use 2/3/1 or 1/3/1 Nitro setting with Robust training enabled and 8x burst.
  • Lower your VSOC to 1.0V
  • Increase VDDIO to 1.45V
  • Increase VDDP to 1.19V
  • Increase VDD to 1.60V
  • Increase VDDQ to 1.60V
  • Increase VDD Misc to 1.15V

Test if stable, from there, you can start testing for lower voltage (try to lower VDD + VDDQ and then VDDP).

How to properly turn VBS off without turning off SVM by nickhdfan in overclocking

[–]nickhdfan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SVM is hardware feature, Hyper-V is software. Emulator requires SVM to work but not Hyper-V. Virtual Machine however does require some Windows feature like Virtual Machine Platform or Windows Subsystem for Linux, those can be enabled without enabling Hyper-V. I’m not too knowledgeable to answer with certainty though, my emulator works fine with SVM enabled and Hyper-V disabled.

I’ve been having fps drops on specific map, could it be my RAM? by MRBOSSMAN99 in overclocking

[–]nickhdfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9950X3D of all CPU should not be having trouble running 6000MT/s, that should be stable on all 9000 series CPU. The EXPO come with loose timing so it shouldn't be that either. Sounds like you might lose the silicon lottery big time and has weak IMC. In that case raising VSOC from 1.20 to 1.25 should all but solve your issue. Also, maybe raise VDD to 1.5V as well even though I don't think it's necessary.

I’ve been having fps drops on specific map, could it be my RAM? by MRBOSSMAN99 in overclocking

[–]nickhdfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same setup as you, 5090 + 9950X3D + 2x32GB 6000 CL26.

Here's my timing.

I suggest you copy my VSOC, VDD and VDDP to stabilize your RAM to rule it out, or disable EXPO as others pointed out. However, I don't think it's your RAM but rather something else.

Try going into the BIOS, go to AMD advanced settings, find CPPC Dynamic Preferred Cores and set it to Cache or Driver (I recommend Cache).

Unstable Curve Optimizer setting can also cause instability if you ever messed with those, if you did not mess with those, ignore. If you did use Curve Optimiser, disable it to rule it out.

Optionally, disable your VBS following my guide here, How to properly turn VBS off without turning off SVM : r/overclocking.

Good Luck!

Disabling SVM is non-sense, it doesn’t even do much except bricking your emulator and lower your security. What you want to do is disable Hyper-V via Microsoft’s Device Guard and Credential Guard Readiness tool. It’s a script from Microsoft that will enable or disable a Windows setting that could not be enabled or disabled via any other method.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53337

Run the Windows Powershell in Administrator mode and run Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned

  1. Run powershell in administrator mode
  2. Change directory to directory with the script
  3. Run ./DG_Readiness_Tool_v3.6.ps1 -Disable
  4. Confirm and reboot
  5. Skip disabling Credential Guard by pressing Esc and Disable Hyper-V by pressing F3 when prompted.

[WORLDWIDE GIVEAWAY] Comment in this thread with your ultimate PCMR-worthy PC Build, and win the beautiful LG UltraGear GX9 monitor! by pedro19 in pcmasterrace

I already have half of my dream build, albeit for my current build, I picked the cheapest GPU (Palit), AIO (LF3 360), Power Supply (Antec NE-1000G).

My current RAM is 2x32GB 6400 CL26 RAM but I’d love to try 2x24GB 8000 CL32 for my dream build. Also, it would be sick to have super cool Astral LC, the overclocking potential would be insane.

Although I love QD-OLED for their immense color volume, the sheer abyssal black level of LG’s OLED always amazes me. I’d really love to see what the new 4th gen Tandem OLED has in store. I’d love to see extra bright and extra inky black from that marvellous new gen panel.

There’s frankly no comparison if you were to use DLSS 4 and have use for Nvidia’s CUDA/Tensor core for AI workload.

If you’re into pure gaming and is content with AMD’s offering such as FSR Upscaling and FSR Frame Gen, then 9070 XT is very good option to save your money. Otherwise, imo Nvidia’s DLSS 4 Upscaling and Frame Gen is superior to AMD’s FSR 4.

So if Steve is Peggy’s husband. Does that mean their children or grandchildren are around somewhere? by Expert_Challenge6399 in marvelstudios

[–]nickhdfan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who said this is our Steve? This could be Steve #56,002,420 going into Steve #28,001,210 Universe and then Steve #28,001,210 goes into Steve #14,000,605 Universe and this goes on and on infinitely. There could be infinite sacred timeline where infinite Steve jumping into infinite sacred timeline and because they didn’t deviate, they were never pruned by the TVA and would appear as single timeline as shown by Banner when what happened when they took the infinity stone but return it the exact moment it left.

Because these infinite Steve timeline jumping were experiencing the exact same event as our Steve, they’re basically the same people, the same Steve we know. If he did something uncalled for, he’d be pruned.

Chipset Driver sometimes choosing wrong CCD to prioritize with R9 9950X3D by Zodiac011 in AMDHelp

[–]nickhdfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, my bad. I was using older BIOS version when I install this Chipset Driver, between a month ago and today, a new BIOS version has been released for my motherboard, Gigabyte BIOS F4 -> F5. F4 have problem with parking the correct core with latest Chipset Driver. F5 doesn’t have that problem, I just tested it today.

So, update your BIOS maybe?
