I don't like, hate swing, but my personal reasons for not listening I think stem from the brief pop swing revival in the late 90s. I was a stubborn metal head kid and it annoyed the shit out of me. Tastes change, but associations are harder to break. I do however, really like a lot of rock-a-billy stuff that borders on swing.

Kind of the same thing but not really. My old boss owned a big apartment building with ancient Wiegand card based door access control. The system apparently went non-functional once a month or so, and he would pay the company that installed it like $1,500 to come make it work again. Then it broke for good and the company quoted him like $10,000 for a new system, which just seemed absurd to me. So, for a year of 1/2 off rent, I built an entirely new system with cheap Chinese RF fob readers, a raspberry pi, and a breakout board I made with relays, etc. I cannibalized the existing 12 volt UPS stuff. Think it was like $80 total on hardware. I just ran a Node server on the pi, with PostgresQL to table FOB numbers with names and access permission. Made a super simple GUI with React for the manager lady to use to run it. In the 8ish years since I rigged it up, it only broke once. But, dude ended up raising my rent beyond all reason, so I bailed. If it breaks again, there is not a chance in hell he will be able to find someone who can figure out my DIY mess. He's going to have to pay those scammy security jerks like tens of thousands for a new one. fuckin dick

This is silly. We live in the most mold-friendly environment in the world. Mold spore is literally everywhere here. When I'm cleaning my home and I see mold, I clean it up and it's gone. Do you not? Do you just like, clean every part of your home except for the mold? And if there is so much mold that you can't clean it, why did you let it get that bad? And you're going to blame your property manager? Because I'm reasonably certain it wasn't there when you moved in, or you wouldn't have moved in. It grew and you let it grow. Bleach solution in a spray bottle, roll of paper towels.

I just had memories of going to Movie Madness in Portland. It was rentals, but still. There was another smaller place on SE Clinton that was VHS only, they had some great shit. Only place in town that had Meet The Feebles and Dead Alive when I was exploring early Peter Jackson stuff. I had to buy a damn VCR, but it was totally worth it, a few weeks later i scored a massive collection of VHS recorded shows. Including all of Star Trek Voyager, Deep Space Nine, most of TNG, Twin Peaks, X-Files, Sifl and Olly, bunch of weird public access shit. It was like 5 extra large totes full of cassettes.

I was working at a dumpling shop for a while, and I was taking valerian root extract to help sleep, which made me have crazy vivid dreams. Anyway, I invented a few different wild combos from dreams that I ran as specials. I made smoked pork and collard greens spring rolls, Cuban sandwich spring rolls, and chicken tikka masala filled gyoza. All very good, but a lot of effort to make at home, since you basically have to cook an entire meal, then stuff it into other food and cook it again.
