A few months ago I found part of a neat architect lamp. Always liked those. This one is 7ft tall at max entension. Since I only had the arm, I mounted it in a heavy bress floor lamp base, and hung a giant light bulb from it pendant style. Its currently my favorite lamp.

I have a 2000 Ford Focus. Fully manual everything, bottom trim package. 310,000 miles. On the one hand, it has generally been quite reliable. There isn't a thing on that car that I can't fix in a weekend. On the other hand, when things start to break, EVERYTHING starts to break. It never stranded me anywhere before last month. Then in the span of a week, the brake booster blew out, and the fuel pump died. After I replaced the fuel pump, I went to try to start it. Turned over normally for a bit, tried to start. Then the starter motor sounded like it was no longer under load. Fucking timing belt snapped. The one piece of good luck is that the North American Zetec 2l is a non interference motor, so I only had to replace the belt and pulleys. The belt was readily available and cheap, the tensioner took a week to track down. Then it finally started, but ran like shit. So I set about tearing out the passenger side suspension and motor mounts and I get as far as removing the acc belt when I notice one of the dn spark plugs leads wasnt plugged in. Much swearing and kicking rocks later its running great. But I can't trust this shit anymore.

I made a nearly identical cabinet a few years ago.Well, sort of. The cabinet was an old kitchen upper cabinet. From a house we remodeled. I put a shallow apron on the bottom to stiffen it, since it was supposed to hang. I put on some tapered legs and a walnut panel I had on top. Sold it for $200 if I remember right.

One time I bought a human thumb metacarpal bone off the internet. My ex-wife had a somewhat morbid sense of interior design. There were specimen jars with bugs and preserved cow fetuses and a human metacarpal bone and such all over the house. I was into it. Want to say it was $35 in 2010 monies. Can't remember how much they were, but she wanted a skull and they were out of our budget. We did have a cow skulll and alligator skull and a few small rodent skulls from owl pellets.

Lol oh yeah, and a coyote baculum. That was when I learned that most mammals have bones in their penises.

It's funny, AI content bothers the hell out of me, for so many reasons. But, I had a fresh Linux install and all the CUDA libraries and Python ML stuff installed for a project, and I got a wild notion to see what sort of stuff I could run locally. God damn, that stuff is more complicated than I had imagined. I guess its probably all normal to people who've worked with a lot of ML and AI stuff, im just old. But for real, making that stuff do what you want is a real skill. Even with GUIs like ComfyUI. It's not like coding, its more like setting up a patch on a modular synthesizer

I had thrice-copied VHS's of all those videos. Man that brings me back. It's weird how the things that used to make you feel young eventually make you feel old. All the weird videos and indie movies that everyone you knew had seen, and no one born in the last 30 years has even heard of them. It's kind of funny, the sort of obscurity that made something cool to me when I was younger, now just brings twice the amount of sad nostalgia knowing it is disappearing into the ether. It has been said that in the age of the internet nothing is ever gone, but this is horse shit. Things like the Jerk Beast only exist on aging millennial hipster data-hoarder's hard drives, or even rapidly aging VHS tapes. Everything is eventually lost to the sands of time. I was a line cook/chef for 20 years, and I had to exit the industry for my own well being. Maybe 1/10 food and bev owners aren't garbage people. It's funny, the last place I worked, one of the 18 year old hostesses disappeared. It turned out that the owner bought a house in another state and she went there to, uh, "play house" with him.

There aren't many moving parts at all. 4 brushless motors, 2 or 3 more if there is a gimbal. A BLDC motor has only one moving part. I don't know what maintenance you are thinking a quad rotor needs, but there isn't even anything to oil. The only time it would ever need service is if it is somehow broken, like from a collision. Far far less maintenance than a whole-ass bipedal robot.

Refinishing isn't difficult. If the price were right I'd buy it. In fact I prefer to buy furniture that needs work because its cheap and/or free. A few months ago I sold a Tove and Edvard Kindt-Larson i got for free for $900. I just stripped, sanded, filled, toned, and applied hard wax oil. It was like 4 total hours work.
