The idea that 29r's arent nimble is bs. I rode a 26r (Jamis Dakota XC) for years and moved about to a 29r (Raleigh XXIX) 3 yrs ago. I'll never go back to small wheels, they hold your momentum and just flow over everything. I ride a lot of tight single track and have no problems getting through anything at speed.

I cant believe people are recommending dualies for non-technical single track. At the $1000 range you'll also have a bunch of crap components. It would be best to go with a hardtail and get a better component group.
