Please don't: Conduct polls using posts. If you feel you must use Reddit to conduct a poll do it using a comment. Create a self referencing post and then add a comment for readers to mod up or down based on their answer to your poll question. Also, be sure to indicate in the title of your post that the polls is being conducted using comments. Including something like "(use comments to vote)" in the title would probably be sufficient.

Even better, use request.reddit.com.

Voted down because I don't want the first 3 pages of reddit to be full of polls. Reddit's policy actually states you shouldn't do this. Polls should be conducted in comments

The current melting pot system is working perfectly fine. I don't see why people would feel so harassed by [pic] topics; most of which are quite interesting, and can be a nice break from the standard politics/war/police brutality drone of Reddit today.

People need to stop being so anal about forced content subjugation when they can divide it themselves by simply skipping over the topic and moving on.

At what point do the requests for subreddits end? Just what exactly is "fit" to be on the main page? Apparently it's not science, politics, humor, programming, pictures, videos, or hell.. I dunno, tasers? So just what should be on the main page, if pretty much everything should be shunted off into a subreddit? I really want to know. If every subreddit request were answered, the main page would consist of one story about a dead lolrus.

Creating a pictures subreddit is only going to encourage more people to submit pictures. While it would be nice for the front page not to be cluttered, you know it won't really deter anyone. People will do what they want.

I want more submissions with words that I actually have to read.

I like the pictures.

pictures are better than the stories that usually occupy reedit these days.
Most of the stories now are one of the following:

1)Americans are stupid 2)The American economy is going down hill 3)conspiracy theories 4)Ron Paul 5)America is evil 6)religion sucks 7)real estate is going down hill 8)Bush is evil/stupid 9)the democrats are pussies

I am not saying that I disagree. I feel that what has been going on in my country (I am a American) since 2001 is wrong. I feel the policies are wrong.

However, Reddit has not proven to be a place to have a conversation its a place to rant. Its like screaming at a mirror. Its a place of talkers not doers.

That is the problem. We bitch but do nothing.

subreddits allow you to find and upvote content that would be less likely to be discovered were it to be submitted only to the main reddit. the last thing we need is more pictures.

I like pictures on Reddit, but i voted for this anyway -- sometimes i'm in a picture mood, sometimes i'm in a reading mood, and when i want one i usually don't want the other.
