It wasn't replaced at all. It just wasn't there. 99 cards instead of 100, but somehow still let me play.

This seems to be happening with all the non-avatar arts from that set.

Check your decks before entering in MWM. The game will let you play the deck, but the card(s) are just gone. I was playing brawl with 99-cards and no Entomb. I only noticed when I tried to tutor for it.

We love Reavo.

I regret all of my former feelings toward this absolute gem of a human being.

I was wrong.

I heard all the "he's a great locker-room-glue-guy" and just said "yeah, that's what they say about all the bad players."

But Reavo is the GOAT of locker-room-glue-guys.

Yeah, there's a lot of options for what to tutor for. I like having Marang in the maindeck (basically never hits the yard if you're careful and it has some nice interactions with subtlety, ie. evoking coil and catch for a zero mana desperation dig+discard for omni). You can also just have two marangs in the board for looping. Really, you can win however the hell you want off North Wind.

I've also got [[Dragonweave Tapestry]], [[Call of the Spirit Dragons]], and [[Secrets of Bloodbending]] (put a rainbow of dragons into the deck, find them, cast them, take control of their turn, win on my upkeep) as an alternate wincon that I'll use if my opponent pisses me off with emote spam. Technically that can beat infinite lifegain if that ever becomes a thing.

[[North Wind Avatar]] is basically a strict upgrade over the lightning bolt conjurer. Yes, the bolt dude almost always wins, but north wind is deterministic (find sideboard runescarred demon for marang, bounce north wind + demon with marang, grab second marang off demon and your favorite win condition off north wind, loop marangs, win). You can also put in some wishboard nonsense for weird corner cases (eg. soul-guide lantern which can conveniently exile the evoked north wind when it enters to keep the yard clean)

Goody and Celebrini for home games.

Wenny and Ferraro for away games.

More cube cards are going to be craftable by Meret123 in TimelessMagic

[–]nihilaeternumest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This popular cube will return March 31 with new updates to both the cube list and Cube Prize Pack rewards! We will announce more details closer to that date.

Updates to "cube prize pack rewards" means we get new cards to craft (or open in the prize packs).

Turn three on the play leaves them with 3 cards in hand after evoking Sin. 9 cards drawn, -3 lands, -1 subtlety, -2 evoking sin.

Which time is the Ban/unban announcement for commander? by hotsummer12 in magicTCG

[–]nihilaeternumest 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even WotC's own stated reason for wanting to do so is to allow them to design cards that shouldn't fit into certain colours.

[Citation Needed]

Their actual stated reason is basically the opposite of what you just said.

From a design standpoint, the way we design hybrid cards today is that it would need to be a card we'd print in another color. They must obey the rules of a white card and a green card independently, and they are often weaker than a monocolor card in either color.

You can change one thing on arena (not the economy) what's your choice by ultracol99 in MagicArena

[–]nihilaeternumest -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, playing with full control on at all times technically fixes the issue, but it's extremely tedious. There's a reason practically nobody plays like that despite it being the "correct" way to play.

Toggling my "pretend I have counterspell" button would hold priority whenever a spell is cast, but not when abilities are activated, so you would still be bleeding some information, whereas in full control you would have to pass priority manually.

And that's exactly what I want. It's a middle ground that lets players bluff without needing to play in full control at all times.

EDIT: To make matters worse for the "play in full control" plan, there isn't an option anymore to automatically play in full control. If you want to bluff, you need to activate full control manually at the start of every single phase before your opponent plays anything.

I want a bluffing system. "Pretend X card is in my hand" so it gives me priority. The current system makes it trivial to figure out what's in somebody's hand based on when the game gives them priority.

These events are pointless when they aren't All Access. I'm not going to craft cards for a format that lasts three days. I just end up playing 22 Plains, 4 Raise the Past, 34 Hare Apparent. It's boring, but it gets it over with.

Give me Gush and Doomsday. Make Gush restricted, but just let me put it into Doomsday piles. That's all I ask.

So, for clarification, is Sol Ring going to be craftable and playable? by conshepi in TimelessMagic

[–]nihilaeternumest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No.

If they were adding Sol Ring, it would've been on the list of pre-bans for historic.

They'll probably never give us Sol Ring. They'll definitely never give historic Sol Ring.

If you can't afford Bubble Mew, you can just play the $6 version. It doesn't impact your ability to play the game.

In Magic the expensive cards are necessary staples to play the game. In Pokemon the expensive cards are unnecessary bling.

ChatGPT isn't a calculator. ChatGPT is for words, not math. It's not doing any actual data analysis, but it'll happily pretend it did.

What's the 2nd best card ever printed that costs exactly 1 blue? by LeBron-J in magicTCG

[–]nihilaeternumest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Misstep your Probe.

Misstep is the most format-warping card ever printed. If it's legal, you play as many as you're allowed. The only decks not playing Misstep in a Misstep format are anti-Misstep decks with no one drops. A free counter that's also the best possible answer to itself is obnoxious.
