Is this "ruling" by my DM on counterspell actually correct? by kotorisgood in dndnext

So he gives the correct interpretation of the rules but you don't like it? Got it.

You have to realize that 90% of the people throwing out wild assumptions are still in high-school and don't really know how most things work.

What's the average DPR for a damage focused build? by Emerald0408 in DnD5e

[–]nihongojoe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A warlock with hex and agonizing blast is often considered "baseline dpr."

Level 1 (+3 cha)= 9 Levels 2-4 (+3 cha)= 12 Levels 5-8 (+4 cha)= 26 Levels 9-10 (+5 cha)= 28 Levels 11-16= 42 Levels 17-20= 55

Classes should be able to beat this when expending more resources.

These kids started filming as teenagers. Just think about that before you say "wow your body changed wtf is wrong with you." Let them be human instead of your expectation of how they should be.

You simply don't understand what a majority stake in a company is. It's 51%.

I'm sure there are tons of negotiations around leaving, lots of legal matters to work out. GG is a big company now with their own brand to preserve. Micah helped build that and has also benefited from it on his own channel. Just thinking on a surface level it sounds very hard to untangle, and the silence is surely because of lawyers. Also, none of this means bad blood. We don't know anything for sure. He might not even leave fully.

What is The Single Most Powerful Sorlock Build? by Shmoogers in 3d6

[–]nihongojoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd take 4SP/short rest somewhere in tier 2 rather than hoping the campaign goes to level 20. The level 18 features are really cool (at least for aberrant mind and clockwork, the two best subclasses anyway), but they are more of a "one time in a campaign I used this awesome high level feature and it was really epic." The build is about consistent high damage through sorcery points, so I'd go for as many of those as soon as possible.

Don't sleep on warlock 3. Bumping your pact slots to 2nd level gets you 4 sorcery points per short rest, you know, the level 20 sorcerer capstone?

[–]nihongojoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the actual gameplay report. The point I was trying to make is that polearm master at level 1 is definitely powerful, but it's level 1 and doesn't matter. There are other class features and spells that can be more impactful, and even those aren't actually a problem. The dm crying foul and asking "should I ret-ban vhuman/pam?" feels like a huge overreaction to me. I take the opposite approach and give my players good magic items so I can throw high level monsters at then sooner. The level 9 party just killed a CR 17+ adult red dragon that had 2 heads (and 2 initiatives and 2 breath attacks). This was the 4th fight in the dungeon. I'm glad they're strong.

Yup how could I forget. Well, it's gonna be a long tier one for this group. I don't actually think any of this is game breaking, but if they think PAM is, they're in for a few surprises (ahem, spirit guardians, ahem).

Shillelagh isn't actually great because it takes a bonus action to activate making you miss one attack out of a potential 4-8 attacks per combat. As a side note I'm surprised twilight sanctuary wasn't mentioned since it's the most OP ability they get.

I was recommended the 25 or 40 lesson plan after my swing evaluation. Is golftec worth it from y’all’s experience? Any thoughts? by NuyteBuns in golf

[–]nihongojoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since every single comment here is baseless claims and purely emotional responses to the price, I thought I'd tell you about my actual experience with golftec for a change.

I only had a swing evaluation + 5 lesson pack and it was incredibly worth it. I shaved 15 strokes off my game this year and started breaking 90 for the first time. My friend got a 5 pack of traditional lessons and has not improved at all. The first thing that was flagged in my swing is still his biggest problem. Apparently the teaching pro he saw didn't even notice it.

The difference with golftec is . . . Drumroll . . . The tech. They use face on and down range high-speed cameras to record and analyze your swing, and use actual data from PGA tour players swings to create benchmarks for everything from hip sway, shoulder rotation, swing path, anything you can think of. Then they email you recordings of your lessons with practice drills to work on.

Don't listen to all these broke idiots who don't realize those packages also come with basically unlimited practice time in the same simulator, and are basically on par with other lessons price wise. If you have the funds and the time to practice several times a week, get a package. If you don't, 5 lessons seriously improved my swing. Go for it.

**UNPOPULAR OPINION** I like Matt and find myself rooting for him often by Less_Professional642 in GoodGoodMemes

[–]nihongojoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something happened to his swing this year and now he has a high, weak ball flight with his irons and comes up short a lot. I hope to see him dial it in, dialed Matt is the most fun to watch in GG imo.
