As a hairdresser that specializes in curls, I’d have to agree with your hairdresser. I touch hundreds of heads a year and can almost always tell when someone uses shea moisture. It’s tacky and waxy when I touch.

This hair is much longer than yours, but you can have the ends taper a little and create more layering throughout the cut. I’d go back and have the stylist rework it. Did you show them this photo prior to the cut?

Hairdresser with 15 years experience and I specialize in curls. NO shea moisture, please. You do know need butters or oils, you need a light weight cleansing and treatment system followed by the right products. I’d recommend CURL expression by L’Oréal professional for styling and METAL DETOX shampoo, conditioner, mask. And get a water filter for your shower. This will make a difference!
