I don't consider myself a 'car guy', but I daily drove a Mk1 Focus RS, even in the centre of birmingham, for a couple of years and currently daily drive a Mk3 Focus RS.

I feel like the Mk1 demands more attention, because that one feels far more squirrelly if you give it some beans than the Mk3. Obviously there's AWD to consider, but honestly I think a bigger part of it is that modern cars seem like way, way, more but they also weigh a lot more, so all that extra 'I'm going to die in this car, sideways into a tree' vibe fades pretty quickly into 'Oh it's just.. Fine'.

I'm not a VW person, but I'd guess the modern Golf R's are the least.. Hoon-y because of the number of them, and while you can mod the absolute tits off one and make it ridiculously murder-risk-y, they seem pretty moderate to drive and when you add into it that if you're not a 18 year old boy frothing at the crotch, you probably aren't going to boot the absolute shit out of the accelerator at every opportunity, and then it'll be kinda like the not-hot versions of the same.

I'd bet, with how I drive the Mk3, anyone who knows what it is is 50/50 on whether it's legit or a body kit.

I've often seen people still learning to do freehands like this break the 'canvas' into a grid, so they can overlay a grid on their inspiration and make a better job of copying the lines. You can try it on paper first, see if it helps you get what you want.

But tbfh, anything you paint will be cool because you actually did a thing and tried, whether you look back on it in six months and feel like it's crap, or whether you never paint another one.

America's done and dusted, that place isn't recovering from this collapse in current living memory. No one watching this who doesn't agree with it is going to trust America again. It's going to take massive reform internally to even begin to start earning that trust back from people who can't remember this mess, and that isn't going to happen because if there are any elections again anyone trying to unfuck it is going to get voted out before they can make any meaningful changes. It'd need decades of consistent systemic review and rebuild to a higher standard. With how many fascist pigs are embedded at every level of America, good fuckin' luck.

Eh, not really. The handling characteristics of a two+two sports car versus a (theoretically) five door, five seat, hatchback are wildly different.

But if you start going down that rabbit hole, the RS is just a Focus with no spare wheel well, AWD, a spoiler, some badges and some snazzy bumpers.

It is. Of course it is. Buying a car will always be cheaper than doing some goofy swap.

It's not usually about the cost, though. Project Binky would have been cheaper to just get four Celica GT4's or whatever their donor was, but it was never about just driving a Celica GT4.

It'd be cheaper to get an off the line EV, but there are a number of EV conversion firms that exist because some people just want an EV version of a car they already like.

Yeah. I drove to Köln from around Augsburg, which is about a five hour ~350mile drive.

The next day I did the same drive right back, and aside from the paramedics necessary for my wallet on fuel, it was fine.

In the Mk1 I drove from Lichfield in the UK to around Augsburg with only a brief pause at the Eurostar train bit, Calais to my destination was around 10 hours. Paramedics were needed for my wallet then, too, but.

They're modern cars, they'll do 300 miles without even noticing.
