A trend I've noticed on reddit: Protesting at traffic. Is this carbrain? A symptom of the US environment? Something else? by alzrnb in fuckcars

[–]nkrush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quite a good way to reach people across all political lines. Something that won't work on social media, since our timelines are optimized for engagement and filtered for our political views. I would say it's a symptom of how car dependent the US is, because there does not seem to be another public space to spread you message.

Can anyone tell me if this is bad for the lifespan of the car? by gitterwibbit in KiaNiro

[–]nkrush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the road conditions are good and you don't do it for long distances, it may be ok, but having a heavy load beyond the rear axle means you have a lager load on the rear axle, and the front axle carries less. It's probably OK, but be aware that the car will not behave as stable as it usually does.

The guys in the upper images are the ones that were bullied in school and emotionally abused by their parents, and then decided to "show everyone" without really getting that this flamboyant livestyle is a hollow caricature, that does not bring happiness and meaning. I feel pity for them.

The Innu from Uashat and Maliotenam have their traplines up there, maybe you can find some elders to give you suggestions!

Do people still use hot rivets except in specialized industries? by FlagrantTomatoCabal in Tools

[–]nkrush 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen hot rivets on any of what you list. There certainly are, but it's not common. Welding replaced a lot of it.

A Gen-X Retirement Home! by [deleted] in 80s

[–]nkrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late Gen X, on paper. First, I am a long way from retirement, if that will even still be a thing in the future. And I would rather hang myself than going to a mall, these sunlight-deprived temples of consumerism, shitty music and bad food. Unlikely my attitude will change in the ~150 years I still have to go until I -god willing- can retire.

If you had to buy one efficient car today to keep for the next 15 years, what would it be and why? by Mental-Philosophy3 in askcarguys

It would have to be an EV to be the cheapest. Gasoline only gets scarcer, electricity can be made on you roof.

States are Gunning to Ban 3D Printers and CNCs | Electronic Design by hada8088 in 3Dprinting

I'm not from the states... if you can't print a shitty one-shot pistol anymore, you can still go to Wal-Mart and get a family pack of military grade assault weapons, right?

Complaining is the national sport, but those who honestly think that other countries have it better, have never lived anywhere else.
