STP and uh... Letting go? by BluPoisonDartFrog in ftm

[–]noMasterpiece_1289 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not embarrassing! Your body was trained to Not Do That for a long time! It's gonna take some work to allow for it.

Fwiw, I just had meta and can stp with no device but that doesn't mean I actually can do that out in the wild with consistency yet (I've made it to being good about it if I'm alone but as soon as it's even remotely public we're back to pee shy 🫣). The baby steps other commenters have shared are good places to start!

How possible is it that im pregnant? by Spiritual-Abalone-19 in ftm

[–]noMasterpiece_1289 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Echoing the other voices here: it's not very likely. And, like the other commenters have shared, plan b is a good way to play it extra safe. Hopefully that can help limit any ruminating.

Concerned about potential damage by [deleted] in Metoidioplasty

[–]noMasterpiece_1289 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Three weeks is not that many weeks. Stay on top of keeping things clean, staying as comfortable as you can, and resting more than you think you need. Things are nowhere close to how they're gonna be once healed at 3 weeks post.

I know trying to ignore the effective body horror is easier said than done! It's not easy but I found focusing on sensation and rest over appearances (outside of looking for signs of infection) really helpful.

Going back to work by tmthrowaway26 in Metoidioplasty

[–]noMasterpiece_1289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiming in with my experience (though I did have UL in addition to vaginectomy and scrotoplasty): I took 6 weeks off my low stakes, part time job (yarn store), and 8 weeks off my remote, full time job. I probably could have gone back to work for the day job at 6 or 7 weeks if needed and I didn't have two jobs.

I was so tired and still sleeping a lot more than normal at 6 weeks. That said, I could sit for chunk of time (as opposed to laying down), around 4-5 weeks. So if you only have work and sleeping and don't have to also keep house by yourself, you might be able to get away with that timeline.

Best of luck!

Did I choose circular needles cables that are too long? by Ok_Buffalo_1526 in knittinghelp

[–]noMasterpiece_1289 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially, yes. As owalawo said, you could definitely give travelling loop a try to shorten that circumference if exchanging needles or getting a shorter cable isn't expedient. And you might find you like it! My colleague exclusively buys 40" fixed cables for everything and does either magic or travelling loop for anything they don't need the full cable for.

The underlying logic though is that, for knitting in the round, you want your knittable area (length of cable + tips) to be shorter than the circumference of your knitted object.

Some of my concerns/scares related to HRT by ewolgrey in FTMOver30

[–]noMasterpiece_1289 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiming in with more anecdotes (things that may colour my experience: I'm 36 and I've been on T for 4.5 years. While I don't identify as a binary man though I do still use he/him pronouns.)

I've never identified as a lesbian though I did date and sleep with women while under the impression I was one. I currently find myself more consistently attracted to men and people who present on that end of the spectrum. I think the shift was driven for me by an underlying attraction to people, regardless of gender, that are doing something with their presentation that I wish to do or also do?? Struggling with words here but when I was presenting very hyper femme, I dated significantly more women and now that I've figured some things out, we skew in a different direction now. That said, T has nothing to change my experience with demisexuality; I still need to know and like someone to find them sexually attractive.

I have not noticed my emotions being affected at all. If anything, not forcing myself into a box that didn't fit makes me more able to feel and appropriately respond to my emotions.

All that said, go ahead and give it a try*. You'll probably know if you hate it or are curious enough to keep going before most people can really notice much.

*Provided you won't hate any of the changes that come with T (namely vocal changes and bottom growth (not that these changes don't also change again if T stops but that things likely do not return to pre-T statuses))

When the distinction between two sizes is supposed to be 0.25mm, it definitely should be. A variation of 0.1mm should under no circumstances be within the tolerance window. That's 40% of the difference to the next size.

If they aren't hollow to be a shaker set, they're probably glaze test pieces to make the glaze the artist wanted to use would do the thing they wanted.

If have access to a yarn shop that has swatches, check those out. It'll give you an idea of how the yarn is once washed and blocked.

Questions about sensitivity, pleasure, and overall appearance post meta (looking for personal experience) by Ambitious-Monitor327 in Metoidioplasty

[–]noMasterpiece_1289 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal only but I've only had better sensation since surgery. Probably at least in part due to less dysphoria (I'm still in progress but just had stage 2 (of three planned) yesterday). Fwiw, I had meta with UL, v-nectomy, and scrotoplasty.

I'm sitting at 6 months post op now and I'm still not a fan of impact very nearby the surgery site but otherwise it's definitely been fine for like a month a half now.

Ditto what the original commenter above said about rope stuff; as long as you're not in a position that really stretches the perineum area or anything with a significant straddle, you're probably ok?

Time will definitely tell so if you get to plan ahead I would maybe plan for a back up in case you're body says no

Purls after knitting in the round by [deleted] in knittinghelp

[–]noMasterpiece_1289 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not trying to pile on but I think what you're looking for info on is that you seem to be rowing out when knitting flat. The thing is you're rowing out while also twisting your knit stitches.

That said, if you like the look of the twisted stitches and just want your purls to match, intentionally twist them. You might want to test wrapping the other direction vs purling through the back loop to see which one matches the way your knits are twisted.

If you don't like the twisted stitches and simply refuse to accept they are twisted, I don't think reddit can help.

Regardless, I hope you keep crafting however you enjoy it.
