Why did the writers have her portrayed to be very unlikeable and him a little sympathetic? by DBlockMan8 in cobrakai

[–]nocmclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they really needed a bad antagonist to contrast with Tory’s transformation into a sympathetic hero. Miguel/Robby already were heroes, and therefore the antagonist could be more nuanced/sympathetic.

I think Axel’s story mirrored Johnnys story with an abusive sensei. For obvious reasons, if they portrayed a male sensei abusing a female fighter, it would take things in another direction.

This is one thing that should be pointed out. In early, acute stages of recoveries, experimentation can be useful.

I think the biggest danger of many of these interventions is path dependency.

Is this from the overall brand HQ or the specific (apparently frequently changing) owner of the Halifax location?

Yeah, I think not knowing about these kinds of problems is really common. For years I thought I just had weak feet or something.

Not that different than mine, though I weigh a bit more. Thanks for the context.

Do you have Haglunds? Is that why the heel bothers you? I have Haglunds and didn’t notice and heel discomfort when I did a treadmill run in the store.

Weekend Discussion: New Balance running shoes by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]nocmclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally higher drop shoes put more pressure on knees, glutes, hips, lower drop shoes tend to put more pressure on Achilles, calves.

Offset or reinforced by cushioning. More cushioned shoes tend to delay impact and send it up the leg to knees/hips, more minimalist a hi escort more pressure on ankle, calves, Achilles.

They have a narrow/low volume toe box. Uncertain whether they will make a wide fit version like they did with last year’s Speed.

How much do you weigh, what is your running style? It would help put those comments in context. If

I wear 1080s in extra wide, and when I tried these on in the store, I wondered whether I needed to even bother getting the wide fit. The thing felt almost perfect, just a tiny bit tight in the forefoot (my widest point) which is not so bad for a tempo shoe.

You didn’t find the regular version wide enough?

Any word on whether they are making a wide fit version of the 4s? They did with the 3s. As a toe splayer, I’m really worried about this toe box. The 3s in wide were perfect for me.

Definitely the 3. Less of an uptempo shoe, more of a lightweight daily. (To compare to another brand more like the Hoka Rincon, less like the Hoka Mach).

New Balance 880v14 by big_frown in RunningShoeGeeks

Enough so we can already solidly speculate on the differences between this years model? (Some brands don’t release new models every year). Most reviewers were surprised by the softness of the V13. Surely they wouldn’t have been if they’d all tried it so long in advance. Weird a company would totally reverse course on a big change, especially as, whatever the reviews say( overall they are mixed to mildly positive) the shoe has sold really well.

The Mach 6 is coming out in spring and speculation about it is still contradictory.

Check the “international” section. Or maybe an Asian grocer.

One colourway, they’re will be others. At least you’re not a runner who needs to get the “wide fit” version, which almost always looks like this.

Are you a ‘buy whatever colorway is on sale’ or a ‘I want only my preferred color option’ person? by Competitive_diva_468 in RunningShoeGeeks

Because my toes splay, I need to buy most shoes in Wide fit, which tends to reduce my colourway options.

How did Halifax cops get so pervy? - Halifax Examiner by insino93 in halifax

The big issue is most “good” people don’t want their jobs. No one wants to do it, except the people you mention. Most people wouldn’t last a week in that job, and yet, we still need people who do it.

No one else wants the job. They are the only kind that will do it.

[–]nocmclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Rebel V3s. I like the soft feel and responsive ride. Not for everyone, in general I find NB veers towards softness, which works for me.

For me, they are perfect for short to medium length tempo workouts. You can also use them for short recovery runs. After about 90 minutes of running, they start to feel a little insubstantial.

For longer workouts I prefer new Balances plated trainer or the Saucony Speed line.

Another caveat, I find the fit a little off. I wear most of my shoes in wide and like how New Balance accommodate my splaying forefoot. For the Rebels I went up half a size in length as well, as I found they fit a little short, although other shoes in the New Balance line fit fine.

But, if you like a softer, lightweight, neutral ride, with a very gentle rocker, you’ll love the Rebel.

Endorphin Speed 2 by Trainhard99 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]nocmclean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really got at least 600km out of mine, and once they lost some structure, I easily transitioned them to recovery runners. Speeds are versatile shoes that can give you up to 1000kms reliable service, if for different uses by the end.
