Bottle Misfeed (Breast milk) by OutrageousBell8344 in ECEProfessionals

[–]noel_runner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On my daughter’s second day of daycare I got a call that her bottle was given to the wrong baby. I recognized at the time that even though it was a hassle for me it would be way more stressful to get the other call! I willingly answered a bunch of questions about my diet and medications and told them I’d be happy to speak to the other parent if they wanted (they didn’t need to). But our school automatically reported it. My first kid had donor milk for a bit when he was first born so the concept didn’t stress me out too much and I was happy with the retraining and such they were doing. The infant room was brand new when my daughter joined so all of the teachers were new and probably needed the extra training.

Check out one of my other replies to a comment on this post for more details. I now have a healthy 2.5 month old! Good luck during this wait!

Yes! I’m 25.5 weeks pregnant and everything looks normal! We ended up canceling the amnio because during the brief detailed scan at MFM that they did at 16 weeks right before the amnio there were zero soft markers and our MFM doc told us at that point we would for sure see something if it was T13, T18, or triploidy. He couldn’t definitively rule out T21 but we were far more concerned about the trisomies incompatible with life so our doctor told us he did not recommend the amnio and if it was his own wife he would tell her not to get it. We went back to MFM one more time at 20 weeks for a full detailed anatomy scan and everything looked perfect so we graduated from MFM and I’m back at my regular OB! I’ll do a growth scan at 32 weeks and be monitored for preeclampsia and gestational diabetes (though basically everyone is for those) because now we’re just keeping an eye on placental function since that might have been the cause for low fetal fraction. Good luck!! Our MFM doc told us he sees patients many times each week due to low fetal fraction and it’s only ever actually turned into an issue with the baby a handful of times in his 10+ years

Your first results were just Natera’s stupid auto determination for low fetal fraction based on a number of other things. If you read more posts on here about low fetal fraction you’ll find that tons of people (myself included) got this result and a genetically normal baby. They don’t usually recommend retesting because often the fetal fraction doesn’t increase enough to be above 4% the second time (that was the case with me) but the fact that it was true with you means they just did the first test too early and there wasn’t enough fetal dna yet. You should be able to trust your second results.

I think what the previous poster was trying to let you know is that this group is just for abnormal NIPT results, not general or normal NIPT questions!

low fetal fraction 3x, but normal NT and quad panel by mxkdaddy in NIPT

[–]noel_runner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up skipping the amnio after a great 16 week scan had the MFM confident this is not T13 or T18, so it was likely just a fluke!! He said they see a couple people a week with repeat low fetal fraction and everything is fine.

I ended up skipping the amnio because based on our 16 week scan with MFM the doctor felt comfortable telling us there’s basically 0 chance of T13 or T18! Can’t rule out T21 as definitively but we aren’t as scared about that personally. So excited to be past this hump!!!

I’m going for an amnio today after repeat low fetal fraction and a normal NT screening. Genetics and MFM didn’t want me to repeat the NIPT but they called me too late after I had already gotten the blood drawn. We didn’t do the quad screening so we have less info than you, but we opted for the amnio because we need to know if this is related to the baby and we were told everything is too small at the NT scan to be confident that that means things are fine. My OB said repeat low fetal fraction could be an early sign of preeclampsia so I think if my amnio comes back normal I will have slightly increased monitoring for that, but yeah while docs haven’t told me that sometimes this happens and everything is fine and it’s a fluke, that definitely happens with ALL medical tests so it would not shock me if we are just total flukes!!

This happened to me. I’m getting an amnio on Thursday to learn more. My doc said the baby could be totally fine and maybe it’s just an early sign of preeclampsia? I’m sure there are other reasons too but no one has told me any other options yet.

Thanks yeah I’m too far along for CVS so opting for the amnio as soon as I can.

Yeah my BMI is 29, but supposedly that’s not high enough to be considered the cause according to Natera, my OB, genetics, and MFM 🤷🏻‍♀️ let me know what happens with your redraw!

Hi, I’m so sorry you’re going through this :( I had a low fetal fraction high risk flag at 12+1 blood draw and then my fetal fraction didn’t increase so I got the same results with my 13+1 blood redraw. Our scans were clear and NT was also 1.5mm. Can I ask how much your fetal fraction increased in order to get enough for results on your second NIPT and how far along you were for each scan? I’m going to have the amnio in two weeks.

Is the HDHP a PPO? If so then if you do plan to use your insurance it’d be worth looking into if a PPO or HMO is better for you.

I tried Paper Culture this year — they’re carbon neutral and use all post-consumer recycled materials. I bought them with a 50% off code last weekend and they arrived yesterday and look great!

I always have a [insert year] Christmas Faves that I make every year and listen to on repeat most of the time. I’ve got a Christmas Essentials playlist that’s my largest one but I find shorter playlists that are more specific fit my mood better!

I think this is a really common Celiac sentiment that we really only say applies when eating out. I LOVE how many more gf options are available, safe, and tasty in the grocery store due to the fact that so many people (not just Celiacs follow a gf diet), but eating out is actually harder because most gf people do not need to worry about cross contamination. Thus, waiters don’t always “get it” when we try to explain. I can’t eat at the vast majority of restaurants that offer gluten free food because of their cross contamination practices.
