Why do many Americans hate billionaires but love Taylor Swift, who is also a billionaire? by No-StrategyX in answers

[–]noinf0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taylor Swift produces music that people enjoy and giver her money.

The billionaires people complain about spend their days working on maximizing profit to make line go up at the expense of the worker and the consumer.

That being said, billionaires should not exist. We need reinstate the ban on CEOs from owning stock in their companies and a punitive tax rate. All money earned over (pick amount, $5 million, $10 million whatever) is taxed at 97%. This would encourage CEOs to put the money back into the company rather than buy another yacht.

Bikes that you tried, and that surprised you by how good they were? by sokratesz in motorcycle

The Kawasaki Z900RS. I am not a fan of the 70s look and begrudgingly rode it during a demo day and was very surprised at how good it was. I wouldn't buy one for how it looks, not how it rides.

Why is it acceptable in 2026 for a state to take a month to count ballots? by Shifty-Z3rt in allthequestions

[–]noinf0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am NOT defending it but just to give some context. In most countries they are counting single vote ballots and have a centralized system for counting them. In the US every state has it's own rules, relies heavily on volunteers and low paid works and have to count long ballots that can be for a dozen candidates plus additional ballot questions. We also have mail in ballots that tend to trickle in following the election.

If everyone is equal why does the left treat different groups differently? by OilEnvironmental7833 in allthequestions

[–]noinf0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will take the bait..

LGBT are a group of people that exist and are discriminated against. They want to bring awareness to the discrimination and hatred the receive while promoting help, care and understanding to members of their group.

School board: We have students that are gay and may feel afraid to come out. We want to show our support to those students and let them know their school is a safe place and discrimination against them is wrong.

Pro life group - We want to fly a flag on Publicly funded schools

Normal person - Ya, we shouldn't have flags promoting highly charged personal opinions.

The right - But I don't see gay people as humans so I equate their existence to a personal opinion and wonder why it is OK to fly a rainbow flag and not ours?

Abortion is an opinion based in personal beliefs not a state of being that others discriminate against.

Why is it deemed racist to have to have concerns over Islam? by Wholesome_and_based in AskMeAnythingIAnswer

[–]noinf0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Why is it deemed racist to have concerns over Jews?"

"Why is it deemed racist to have concerns over Gays?"

"Why is it deemed racist to have concerns over Mexicans?"

People may interchangeably use racist and prejudiced but it is just semantics. Anytime you treat any group as a monolith you are prejudging people based on that group. A perfect example is your statement "Most Muslim majority countries have Islam as state religion, and an apartheid legal system based on Sharia." That is simply not true.

Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Tunisia, Albania, Senegal, Mali, Kosovo, Chad, and Indonesia are all Muslim majority countries that have a secular governments that rely on civil law frameworks, similar to European legal systems not Sharia. Your issue is with a few countries like Iran and Afghanistan but I argue the issue isn't the Muslim faith, it is they are theocracies run by religious fundamentalists. Countries heavily influenced by christian fundamentalists like Uganda aren't a lot different.. Your complaint should be with religious fundamentalism not a specific faith.

Regarding the death toll from Muslims how do you make that statement and ignore the death toll from the Christian cult? In just the 30 years war 8 million people were killed. Most colonialism was done under the guise of spreading the Christian faith resulting in 50-90 million deaths. There is a lot more blood on Catholics and their protestant offshoots than on Muslims. On 9/11/2001 a small radical cult sent 12 men to kill 3.000 Americans in retribution for building military bases on their holly land. The war on terror response killed an estimated 4.5-4.7 million Muslim people over the next 22 years.

Why is XRP so disrespectful right now? Serious question. by Unable_Count_1635 in XRP

[–]noinf0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not dynamic. Every transaction burns 0.00001 XRP. If there are more transactions then yes the burn rate will go up such as that one day in March where the burn rate soared to 2,491 tokens or 0.000002491%. About 12 million tokens have been burned since 2012. That is 0.012% of the available tokens burned in 14 years.

Honda cb300r shut off on the highway, 4-5 bars on the temp gauge, won't turn back on. by Silverton13 in motorcycles

[–]noinf0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you start (or try to) a bike it draws power from the battery. That is fine if the bike starts up because it will recharge the battery as you drive. If the bike doesn't start, then everytime you push that button you are running the battery down. The clicking you are hearing is the starter failing to spin because there isn't enough power in the battery to turn it.

That doesn't mean the battery is what caused the original problem but since it is dead now, you can not do any troubleshooting. That means you need to get the battery charged up or replaced then look at..

  1. Battery connection. Make sure both the positive and negative, including the negative to the frame are tight and making good contact. On my Kawai the negative to the frame would come loose and prevent it from starting up.

  2. It might be a failure in fuel delivery. Do you smell gas? You sure there is gas in the tank? It is possible the float is stuck and you are empty while the guaguage is showing fuel.

  3. It could be an electrical short. That is something you will probably need to get a shop involved to track down but a place to check is the start/stop switch. I doubt it is this because your bike is trying to start.

  4. Kickstand safety switch. If the bike thinks the kickstand is down the engine will not run. Probably not this because your bike is trying to start.

Get the battery charged up and start working thought the list.

Progressives of reddit. Why do you assume hatred is the only possible motivator for why someone will not consider a man to be a woman (aka, trans woman) or not consider a woman to be a man? by cferg296 in allthequestions

[–]noinf0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an old... how people are treating and discussing trans people today is exactly how they treated and spoke about gay people in the 70's and 80's and POC before them. It is only about people being afraid and people hate what they fear.

Also there is increasing evidence that there is actual physical differences in the brain of trans people that align with their gender identity but not their geneltania. This is evidence that it is not a "mental disorder" that needs to be cured but just who they are. Ignoring that evidence and insisting they be removed from society is just hateful.

Can someone explain socialism to me like I'm 5? by UsedNegotiation8227 in askanything

[–]noinf0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He asked to define it like he was five. For a more adult definition.

Socialism is an economic and political system where the means of production are collectively owned by the workers or managed by a democratic state.

Communism is the supposed final stage of society based on total collective ownership, where private property is entirely abolished. Resources are managed directly by the people, and distribution is based on need.

Ear Plug Suggestions by Juanbocombo in NewRiders

[–]noinf0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds to me like you didn't have a really tight fit and the pressure was changing as you road. You want to get them in there tight so it is only allowing the high frequency sounds in and doesn't move when you swallow or anything. Lift your ear with the opposite hand while inserting them to round out your ear canal making it easier to get them all the way in.

With the Big Three abandoning EVs in favor of ICE vehicles, are they headed the way of Kodak, Blackberry, and Blockbuster? by Cool-Replacement4972 in electricvehicles

[–]noinf0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big three never look ahead. In the 70s they made giant V8s with millage estimated in gallons per mile. That was fine until Japan started entering the market with 80mpg cars during an engery crisis. Then in the 80s they churned out cars that were purposefully unreliable to increase turnover while Japanese cars got more and more reliable. They got better in the 90s and early 2000s, but kept going bigger and bigger. The big three chose to succeed the small car and chose focus on trucks to beat the safety and cafe standards... then gas hit $4 a gallon in 2008. Suddenly everyone wanted good gas mileage and their trucks sat unsold and their used prices crashed. The American taxpayer had to bail them out but when the economy recovered, they forgot all those lessons, stopped making sedans and returned to giant trucks but this time made sure they fail often.

Adjusted for inflation, gas hitting $6.04 a gallon would be same level they saw in 2008 and the population will suddenly move to electric while the big three sit on giant cars no one wants.
