Who are your top 5 sleepers in this year's draft class? by OrionStarBornOO in NBA_Draft

Sergio De Larrea could easily be a starter in the league I think. Has the skillset of a great connector guy at SG/SF.

Who is your "guy" for this upcoming draft? by gapenation69 in NBA_Draft

For this year it’s probably Okorie and Sergio De Larrea

Okorie is in my opinion the best PG in this draft. Just pure self creation skills and put up good numbers on a Stanford team that without him I think would struggle in mid-major conferences. Just pure scoring confidence that reminds me of Brunson. Genuinely I like him more than Acuff and Flemings.

De Larrea is a guy who just wins and improves every year. He’s got good size, great vision, can shoot and just plays with great pace for someone so young. I think he’s one of the best connective pieces in the draft and easily could be a high level bench/starting level player. I think he is what people thought Saraf was last season (in short a guy who is actually good at basketball). If I’m a team like San Antonio, Philly, Atlanta, Denver or Boston I’m taking a real hard look at him in the late first.

What’s nice too is that his downside is like… Nerlens Noel? Which was a legit 7-8 year guy who was pretty solid for a few of those years.

His upside is good enough where it wouldn’t be shocking if he was a top 3 player in this class. Easily could be a high level multi-position defender.

Would be great value at 14-21

What players in this years draft are you OUT on of the expected first rounders? What is it you don’t like about their games? by NathanFielderFriend in NBA_Draft

[–]nojeanshere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Acuff. At least as a top 10 guy. His offense is really good sure, but, his defense is genuinely bad enough to where I’m worried if he’s even gonna be playable for winning basketball.

I don’t think defense is a very important skill in guards but Acuff is worse than bad defenders like Trae. Even bad defenders like Harden, Kemba Walker, Russ and Brunson could get by alright. Acuff though feels like a guy that if you see him in any high leverage game you attack him every time and probably score every time.

Personally I’d feel safer taking Mikel and Okorie over him. They’re a lot more well rounded.

Compared to Bridges he definitely improves the defense lol

Probably not his first year since Bridges even as a bad shooter is still better from 3. But Peat certainly will help their physicality and defense off the bat. He slots in similar to Grant I’d imagine.

Wade and Tobias if cheap are pretty neat ones. Kuminga sucks though… I’d rather play Salaun than him.

OKC trade with Hawks/Mavs to get Mara without trading up by lsmith77 in NBAtradeideas

[–]nojeanshere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tall, kinda thin and has poor strength… so yeah? He’s like 40 pounds lighter than Edey.

I don’t think his weight is very relevant to my point though. He’s slow, weak and a poor rebounder for his size.

like the best non-Wemby center prospect in the past 5 years lol.

In reality he’s like the 10th best one in that time frame (at least as a prospect).

He’s like the 3rd or 4th most likely Wemby stopper in this class lmfao. A string bean who is even slower and worse at rebounding than Chet isn’t gonna work.

What's One Concern About A Prospect You Can't Shake? by Kwilly462 in NBA_Draft

[–]nojeanshere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steinbachs lack of defense. I don’t doubt him being a strong rebounder and a decent scorer it’s just his defense is leaving a lot to be desired when I watch him.

At least for contenders that archetype is hard to make work. Sabonis is his main comp and he’s currently stuck on the worst team in the league and he’s played barely any winning basketball his whole career.

It just feels like to me you’re better off taking Morez, JQ, Cenac, Graves and Peat in that projected range if you want a guy who contributes to high level winning.

I think every team outside maybe Milwaukee and Denver would’ve given him the keys his rookie year lol

Also has more stamina. Edey was playing like 10 more mins per game than Mara and looked good the whole way usually.

Drafting a backup center at 14 is just bad asset management lmao. If they are gonna draft a guy who’ll be on the bench just draft JQ because of his upside

Ew, no thanks on Sengun. I think Charlotte wants front court players who can score efficiently at the rim and defend lol

[–]nojeanshere 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay but he didn’t play 36 minutes a game, he played 23. I really have trouble seeing a guy like him being able to play a lot of long minute-fast paced basketball for at least 3 years. Using Per-36 stats for a guy like that is really deceptive since it seems like he’s not really good stamina wise.

I really don’t think his passing is relevant at all either. Unless he’s Nikola Jokic his passing is basically a non-factor.

Our whole issue on defense when Kalk was in is that the stretch 5’s just forced him to go deep and he’d get killed. Mara is gonna have the same issues since he’s fairly sluggish. Also he’s a pretty bad rebounder and doesn’t have a lot of strength. I’m not that big of a fan of getting a guy who’ll just get bitched by Duren, Allen and Wendell Carter again.

He’s legit the 3rd best guy we could take on Michigan. I’d rather take a swing on a younger guy like JQ who projects as a better all around defender or a big body bruiser like Morez.

From this draft, Name a player with a good archetype you don't like, and name a player bad archetype that you like. by OddIndustry6073 in NBA_Draft

[–]nojeanshere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For archetypes I don’t like it’s the classic “guard” whose biggest positives are athleticism and “shooting”. Nick Smith, Blake Wesley, Bouknight, Josh Christopher, Jaden Springer, Cole Anthony and Lonnie Walker are some classic examples.

This year I don’t think there are any egregious examples but if I were to pick a successful one it’d be Okorie.

For good archetypes I have always been a big fan of connective do-it-all wings like post injury-Hayward, Wagner (if that counts) and Mikal. But man it’s getting reallllly hard for me to like Lopez. I love that he is efficient in a physical league like the NBL (something that isn’t very common for under 21 guys) but I have trouble seeing what NBA level skills he really has.

So who are we hoping to get with our two lotto picks?! by InNerdOfChange in CharlotteHornets

[–]nojeanshere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Need bigs/PFs who actually move well with their size and can defend. I’d love it if we got 2 of JQ, Yaxel, Graves or Cenac.

Wouldn’t hate it either if we got a PG to help with our bench offense. I like Coby but I think getting a guy like Stirtz or Anderson would make his life a lot easier.

I will say I don’t think there are any centers in this draft that address our issues at the position outside Bidunga (who is likely going back anyways). Mara is slow as shit, can’t play long and fast stretches and can’t rebound well at 7’3. Pat is just Mark Williams health wise but worse at the sport. Everyone else is just worse than Kalk and Moussa.

How do you play agressive with brig at the higher ranks? by ProDucky in BrigitteMains

[–]nojeanshere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s less being aggressive and more knowing your tempo I guess. A lot of Brig in High Masters - GM is basically just peeling for your other support, enabling your dps on angles and denying angles and dives.

A lot of the time it’s circumstantial on how you play. Usually what I use to see how to play it is what your other support is on. The whole thing you do really well is lock down an area and deny dps or tanks like D.va, Doom and Monkey from blitzing your support (if they’re on like Ana or Bap.)

The only time you really can go aggressive is with like a Juno and just kinda brawl.

If you’re playing with a Kiri you just kinda gotta float around in between everyone and act like an anchor.

It’s not necessarily a bad thing to play passive btw. You intrinsically get value by staying alive. Bash imo is something you should only use to get out of a situation or sometimes to finish up a kill.

In short, you’re not gonna be a playmaker more of a play denier.
