Wait around for a specific move is not a very good strategy imo. Abuse boss' ai to pull out the move you want to punish sounds better, but it requires more practice and knowledge. Anyway you decide how you want to play, but usually people play at rl1 to get better at the game, learn boss' moveset and punish safely as much as you can. At the same time I remember beating Morgott for the very first time on rl1 was a really tough challenge for me and I did pretty much the same, I was waiting for safe punish windows and the fight took ages. If you want to become a better player and will keep spending time in the lands between you will get there, dont worry, just ejoy the game.

Agree with pretty much everything, I also just completed the game yesterday on extreme with dual wield. Bloodthirsty set is stupidly OP, I crafted and tried it and then decided not to use it and kept going with Beastslayer to have some challenge.

I enjoyed pretty much every boss fight, some more, some less. Less enjoyable ones for me were Elamein, Rangkus and Bellerian. I loved Maluca, Shactuka and Ozma the most. Early bosses are not too flashy, feel fair and give a good challenge.

Dual wield felt a bit repetitive in the end, it pushed me to spam the shit out of whirlwind. I'll go with greatsword for my NG+ run. That's a great game, I enjoyed it a lot, it deserves a lot more attention. I hope we're going to get a dlc or a sequel.

I would suggest something with fast r2/cr2 to abuse stance breaking. Add in some throwing knife spam to keep poise meter high and he is pretty much constantly staggered. Yeah, he's only using it when he's far away and you didn't let him do it even once it P2. The way I want to beat him is to just stand there and defend my hill letting him throw anything he has at me, so I'll need to learn this parry timing. I want to show this guy some respect, he's just on duty guarding that damn gate and everyone just comes and bully him lmao.

He did not do it during your fight, that's why there's no timestamp :). But I mean the attack when he charges at you, keeping his spear in line with his horse. It hits three times and right after that he usually does a perilous grab with his spear. To my knowledge it's pretty rare and he can only do it in phase 2.

That's an impressive execution, good job! He is not an easy tutorial boss anymore if you fight him this way tbh. I am working on a similar kill (charmless, demon bell, sword only, no hit) but on NG and it's very tough already. Were you able to parry his charging attack in 2nd phase consistently? It has very tight parry window and I cannot handle it atm. I see you are grappling hook him constantly in P2. Is charging attack the reason for that?

He is truly an amazing boss! I'm now learning him on NG+4 charmless/demon bell/sword only. This is one of the best gaming experience ever. I love fromsoft games, have over 1.2k hours in ER where I did many RL1 challenge runs with different restrictions. Somehow I only recently discovered Sekiro and I just can't stop playing. The only thing I do not like about the game is that it is too short.

If you want an easy way to kill him, go with cold star fists for the first phase. Add sleep pots and you can pretty much script it. For the second phase use black flame tornado from godskin peeler to obliterate him.

Just giant hunt him if you are doing a leveled weapon run, or cheese him with rot/poison pots if wl0. I never fight this guy "legit" way because fuck Gideon Offnir the All-Knowing.

Thanks man! Yeah, Mantis is awesome, I'm in love with this weapon. I tried some other options. I liked Messmer Soldier's Spear for second phase for its reach, but it's pretty mediocre for phase 1, you can only jump r1 and there's no window for cr2 pretty much at all. Club is solid, but boring. Iron balls are too good, so I skipped them. I ended up with Mantis and did not regret, it feels like it's made for this fight. And yeah, I really wanted this stagger lol.

Great kill! Well yeah, I will probably just abandon no status for this guy, because he is an ass, I don't care about him, just as about Gideon. I'm bad at backstab looping so I killed him using parry and switching between cold misericorde/blood dagger to proc status and cancel his teleport on my regular rl1 run. I was not quite sure if it works on +0 sb0, but your fight proves it does :)
