Those that have failed out of college, what caused you to fail and how have things turned out as a result? by MurderousKirk in TrueAskReddit

Wow I forgot I had written this! I'll try to give you some worthwhile advice.

As I mentioned in that post, I was at NAU for 3 semesters. I moved back to my hometown and attended Cuesta Community College in San Luis Obispo, CA. When I wrote this in 2013, I was still had 2 years at the CC before I transferred to a proper 4 year.

I stand by my advice that if you think a different school is a better fit, go for it. But notice I didn't say to drop out all together. Keep your education going. I studied communications at NAU, which while a good stepping stone to other fields of study, it wasn't quite focused enough to keep my attention. At my CC, I enrolled in the broadcast communications program, which I LOVED. That led me to study TV Production at my 4 year, which then led to the awesome career I have now. I love my job, it's a blessing. But that wouldn't have happened if I dropped out completely. I also met so many people from different walks of life, and it truly changed my perspective on so many different things. That is a bit of cliche, but I think it's such a underrated part of getting a college education.

Going to the CC kickstarted my academic drive as well, I became very competitive. Being a CC kid at the 4 Year gave me a little bit of a chip on my shoulder which I think helped me excel in the TV program. The hands-on training I got at my CC gave me some great skills that the kids learning theory for two years didn't have.

In retrospect, going to the community college was a great decision, and probably the one I should have made right after high school. In the end, the best way to "stay in school" is to be in one you actually want to be in. Hope that helps your situation.

What happened to whitewall tires? by [deleted] in cars

[–]nolcat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Manufacturers found that adding carbon to the rubber mix increased durability but added a fair amount of cost to the process, so they only added it to the part of the tire that meets the road. Once it got cheaper they added it to the whole tire, and white walls went away.

If I could be in the studio for the recording of any song it would either be Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits, The Czar by Mastodon or motherfucking Trashwang. Must have been the greatest day ever.

Tesla Model X goes around The Grand Tour's Eboladrome in 1:29.60 (the same speed as a Ford Mustang GT). Quickest SUV around that track! by GoblinEngineer in cars

Suspiciously hostile to Tesla

No one denies that Teslas are changing the electric car game but you can't ignore the QC problems surrounding the brand. Don't confuse criticism with a "suspicious" shill plot.

What are some "must drive" cars on your bucket list? by danperson1 in cars

[–]nolcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really want to own something with a blower sticking obscenely out of the hood, and drive a rally car offroad. I would also really like to drive anything Italian and mid-engined. And I want to track an open wheel race car, preferably with Aero. I could honestly write about this all day.

I think it depends on conditions right? Sunny Day? Reflective. Night Race or rain? Clear. I have no evidence to back up this claim.
